Matthew McConaughey is the favorite to revive the Magnum P.I. franchise on the big screen. The movie hunk is reportedly in negotiations to take over the island detective role from Tom Selleck, who played Magnum on TV.

Entertainment Weekly magazine reports McConaughey is currently reading the script.

Y'know, if this remake trend keeps up, the program listings for pay cable movie channels are gonna start to read like TV Listings.
