I just now saw the last episode for the first time ever. I wasn't really sad by it until the end when I saw the "CLOSED" sign in the window!
I hate ION for removing this show yet again!

I don't think that it was too much, they helped him through out the years, they were all great friends. And I'm positive that they didn't get paid all that much.

So for all the years that they worked for Mel for that little pay, I think that giving $5,000 was a great deed that Mel did. It's all ways good to spread the wealth.

Boy they sure cut out a good chunk at the first commercial break. They cut out Jolene saying she was leaving, Vera passing out, then waking up, and her and Elliot finding out she was pregnant (I think she came back from the doctor and announced it)

ION's editing of this episode really, really BLEW CHUNKS!

In retrospect, shouldn't have CBS given Alice an hour retrospective? 9 seasons is quite an achievement for any sitcom, even these days. I mean M*A*S*H* ran 11 seasons and got to have 2 1/2 hour farewell movie! All Alice got was this little half hour wrap up

Jolene was opening up her own beauty salon I believe, I hadn't see the finale in years.

Yep, Jolene opens a beauty salon, and Alice goes on the road to sing with Travis Marsh. Good riddance to ION for removing this show. I'm hoping "Me-Tv" in Chicago pics this up, since they don't hack their shows up.

Maybe it was better that ION DID get rid of Alice, since the network treated the show like sH*T-lol

I noticed it was bad too with the 7 PM episode as well. The second segment started in the middle of a scene in about mid-sentence just like the finale.
