Default ???? Regarding the opening credits...

I think there was something mentioned here abt it but I can't find it. Anyhoo, does it seem weird for the man who played Vera's husband to have had his name come before Celia Weston's (Jolene) name since he came AFTER her on the show? I realize the way they put Celia's name was just like how Polly Holliday's name was credited and she too was last in the credits.

Diane Ladd's was also last during the season and 1/2 she was on. What I find weird is for Philip McKeon still had a credit even though he was barely on this last season!

Maybe they just listed cast members' names by seniority??

I think it had something to do with peripheral characters--those with special enough qualities. Linda Lavin was naturally the first. In other shows say like Happy Days the last credit was usually a central character--"And Tom Bosley as Howard Cunningham". Perhaps in Alice's case, after Flo left, that credit should have went to Vic Tayback!!

I agree - especially since Vic/Mel provided the biggest laughs!!

It made sense for it to be Polly Holiday to get the final credit in Alice before but was kind of odd for Diane Ladd and Celia Weston to get it. I agree it should have been given to Vic Tayback after Polly Holiday left. It was especially odd to me that Celia Weston got it when she wasn't well known to my knowledge at the time. I guess it was easier just to put the Flo replacements in that spot.

If anyone deserved that credit, it was Mr. Tayback - he had to carry even more of the comedy after Polly Holliday left.
