Madderest Morbidly obese woman charged with murdering her 2 year old nephew

Ok, the article doesn't make it clear nor does it elaborate as much detail as I heard on the news, the fact the woman was too large to be removed from her bedroom. The authorities say they will have to possibly tear down a wall to remove her. The article does state she was fingerprinted and her mug shot was taken at home since she is bedridden. The article doesn't state the woman first claimed she rolled off the bed and fell on the toddler, thus causing the trauma to his head. The article does give two of her several different accounts of how her nephew was fatally injured. The autopsy proves otherwise:

http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?se...ate&id=6044323

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 | 9:53 PM LA JOYA, TX -- A morbidly obese woman, who authorities say killed her 2 1/2-year-old nephew with two blows to the head, has been charged with capital murder.

Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, who weighs at least 800 pounds, was arrested and arraigned in her La Joya bedroom Wednesday morning for the death of Eliseo Gonzalez Jr. The 27-year-old bedridden woman was photographed and fingerprinted at home before being released on a personal recognizance bond, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said.

Jamie Lee Rosales, the boy's mother and Rosales' sister, was also arrested on a charge of injury to a child for failing to protect the boy. She was being held on $50,000 bond.

The 20-year-old mother had signed a safety plan in April with Child Protective Services that advised her not to leave her children with her sister because of the woman's disability, according to charging documents.

A woman who answered the phone at Mayra Rosales' home and wouldn't give her name said the family would have no comment on the charges. Jamie Rosales remained in jail and authorities had no attorney contact information for her.

On the morning of March 18, Jamie Lee Rosales left Eliseo and her two younger children in the sole supervision of Mayra Rosales, authorities say.
Less than two hours later, Mayra Rosales phoned her sister to say that Eliseo had gotten stuck under her bed and his head was swollen, according to the charging documents Eliseo was removed from life support and declared dead that afternoon.

Mayra Rosales would later tell investigators, alternately, that she slipped, landing with her right hand on Eliseo's head while trying to pick him off the floor and that he fell off a chair, according to documents.

But an autopsy revealed that Eliseo's injuries were "consistent with blunt force trauma" and that Mayra Rosales' explanations were inconsistent with the injuries.

The autopsy found multiple skull fractures on the forehead and upper and lower rear parts of Eliseo's skull. The autopsy also revealed fractures that were estimated to be a month old.

Why would you leave your children with someone who is bedridden with obesity?

"Obese aunt charged with killing toddler"...
how is it relevant that she's fat?

^^^^Because she is bedridden due to her obesity. Her sister signed a document with social services saying she wouldn't leave her kids with her sister, a woman who can't take care of them, number one because of her obesity and the fact she can barely move and number two, I believe they said there were previous reports of child abuse. What if the house were on fire? How would she help those kids get out of the house since she is bedridden because of her obesity?

This is one of those stories in which the imagination of how it might have happened runs amuck, and overshadows the tragedy of the death.

Therefore, in a sickly flippant mood, I have to ask: was the accused murderer a smoker?

I shake my head at the thought that woman was stuck in her room because of her obesity and couldn't move around, YET, she was able to murder her nephew by beating his head in. Sounds like she wasn't that disabled.

Yes, that is why she is charged with murder. She stated to the police different versions of how he "got hurt", one of them being that she rolled off her bed and crushed him, but the autopsy shows blows to the head and some fractures that were a month old but had not been treated by a doctor. Her sister is also arrested because there had been reports by social workers who had seen her children for previous allegations of abuse, some of which occurred while in her obese sister's care. So, the mother had to sign a document that she understood for the safety of her kids, she would never leave them alone with her bedridden sister. One reason being because if she was bedridden, how could she take care of young children? The other being because of the previous allegations of abuse.

Very relevant, it seems to indicate a possible accident. This could be her defense that she didn't murder this child, but only accidentally crushed him.

She attempted to use that as her defense. And probably will still try to use that excuse. But her story changed more than three times. Not only that, there was prior alleged child abuse by her. She has no credibility if you ask me.

I didn't know all of these details. I've barely kept up with this story. I do wonder how a bedridden person who is severely obese can physically abuse a child. Something just seems odd about this story.
