Oh No Wal-Mart has Insulted My Intelligence

For several months now, I have been getting my diabetes medication at CVS and it's been an out of pocket expense for me since I'm currently not covered by any insurance plan. The cost each time has been $20 but I found out that it's part of Wal-Mart's $4 program so I switched.

Monday, I picked up the prescription at Wal-Mart and read the label and it said: Take one tablet by mouth twice daily. In all my years of having various prescriptions filled, I have never been giving instructions to take a tablet by mouth. How else did the Pharmacist think I was going to take them? Nevermind, don't answer that.

The intructions are there for all the morons in the world who wouldn't know how to take a pill, I guess.

What about the stupid intructions on some food or products (eg, 'take out of wrapping, then eat'..)

really?

Huh? Don't all prescriptions come with directions? I used to get my prescriptions at CVS and they had instructions.

The reason for the instructions is because like Karen said, the morons who ingest medicine that should be taken up the butt, like a suppository.

Haha, I've always had those directions on my percriptions, too. Seems pointless, but you know there are some idiots who'll use them differently.

Yes but Wal-Mart is the first pharmacy I've been to with take by mouth instructions for tablets. CVS has never put this on any of mine. I understand dosage instructions but being insulted by the blatantly obvious is another matter entirely. I've got some Bayer aspirin here and it also has dosage instructions but nowhere does it say to take by mouth.

Strange. Like I said, CVS and other pharmacies I have dealt with always had that "take by mouth" comment on them. The current pharmacy I use also has those words on the medicine bottles. I think the day those words DON'T APPEAR on the med bottles is the day I will be shocked.

I always assumed for legal reasons they had to put those words on the bottle for reasons like Karen and I stated above.

Do me a favor Charles, when you go back to that pharmacy, ask them why they put those words on the bottle. I would love to hear their response, it if is not for legal reasons, I want to know what possible other reason there is.

You think that's weird? I bought a prescription for Nexium a few months ago from walmart, and i read the directions and warnings. One warning said "Use with caution if you are Asian". I'm not asian but i'm wondering why you have to be Asian to be careful with this medication lol. Maybe asians have a different stomach or something.

I don't like Wal-Mart.

I tried to get a job there, but I was always turned-down.

You are correct. Here is what it says abt Asians:

BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. THIS MEDICINE SHOULD BE USED WITH CAUTION IN ASIAN PATIENTS; the risk of side effects may be increased in these patients. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast-milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.

Ok, there is a joke here, but I will refrain.

yeah, i asked my fiance (who is asian) if he ever experienced weird side effects with medications, he said no. Maybe only in some. I just thought that was the weirdest thing lol.

It is, especially when it doesn't explain on the website WHY IT IS BAD FOR ASIANS. I want to know!!!!!!!

My youngest daughter used to be mistaken for an asian when she was real young. To this day, she sometimes is still mistaken for asian. I mentioned this to her and she said, "Oh, I better not ever take that medicine then."

A few years ago my husband had food poison, he could not keep anything down. So since he could not keep anything down, the doc prescribed some pills, and he had to stick them up you know where. So it does happen
