How would you compare and contrast Kaley's Penny character with Bridget from 8 Simple Rules?

First of all, Bridget was much dumber than Penny. Bridget basically was a dumb blonde, which a lot of the critics tried to say Penny was going to be, but she clearly is not. Bridget was much more self centered and into herself than Penny. I don't think Bridget would enjoy hanging out with the geeks like Penny clearly does. Also, Bridget had more of an abrasive edge to her. I find Penny to be sweeter although she can be bossy when she has to. Sometimes I see Kaley playing Penny, and I think that is something Bridget might say, but I really do find them to be different characters although they look the same.

To me, Kaley will always be Bridget. She hasn't really stood out to me as Penny yet. Maybe if the show becomes a permenent fixture on CBS for the next few seasons, I'll just get more used to her as Penny. But, I'm a huge fan of 8 Simple Rules, and it's still hard to see them as 2 different characters.
