Ok here is the scoop. My friend Donnie has been working at Country Foods for 5 years and got fired from his job because one of the employee's saw his myspace page. On that night he was feeling, " whatever" and he picked that he was horny on his "how am I feeling". The employee said they did not feel comfortable with their children coming in the grocery store. DUMB I have known Donnie since High School which I have to admit is longer than 20 years. I started talking to people and they said any place can fire people for that and that some of the Employers check their employees space regularly? What? Hmmm. Thought you should know........ Freaks me out I am positive that there is a problem here.. The last I knew we have a Constitutional Right to FREEDOM OF SPEECH and I also believe there is an invasion of PRIVACY here? He is set on friend so they had to either be a friend or get there some other offending way. OK there ya have it . Just wanted you guys to know.... Have a good day!

I did get fired from the first time and now this 2nd time around I got fired b cause of myspace. Sorry if I confused you, I have just been not me lately,now I am looking for a job which I will find one, The first time they tried to fet rid of me he said I was only going to work 2 days. BuT,like I said I did'nt know how to say it. Please have positve thoughts about me. Thanks.

the mood is always publicly displayed, even on private profiles, so it couldn't have been an invasion of privacy. still, it sounds unconstitutional to fire someone over something as harmless as a myspace feature. though like i said in the other thread, he's probably better off not working for people like that.

You're right, the way i see it, back in the days before myspace and internet, people just had to hire employees based on checking things such as their public records and trust. So why do they feel the need to check for petty things such as a myspace/facebook? Come on. First of all, for the mood feature, MOST people don't exactly take it seriously. I know people who put the "high" mood on, but of course they weren't actually high. I'm sure anyone who is horny wouldn't go on there and actually tell the world they are. Either way, I think it's ridiculous for employers to do that. Instead of spending their hours looking at people's myspaces, why don't they try doing something productive such as making sure their employees are doing their jobs correctly, making sure things are safe in the workplace, etc.

I guess the main thing is, if you are holding down a job, you probably shouldn't do things post pics of yourself hung over the toilet on new years on the internet. Its gross to put that in the first place, but also you never know what snoops of employers you might have.
