Cool Rank the Seasons of Idol

For me I'd have to say:

1. Season 4
This is my favorite season because, besides Scott Savol, EVERYONE was so talented. It produced one of my all time favorite idols, Constantine Maroulis. It was also pretty unpredictable IMO. Constantine getting voted out semi-early was shocking... as well as the fact that Scott stayed in so long . This season was also full of personality. In order for me to like someone on Idol, I have to like their personality too. If they don't show enough of it, I find them to be boring, no matter how good of a singer they are (IE: La Toya London). But yeah. I loooove season 4.

2. Season 7
I think we are approaching perhaps the best season ever. I would have ranked it as one, but I don't know, we're not done yet. Seriously though, everyone in the top 12 is talented, except maybe Kristy but she's still not even that bad. Once again, everyone has showed off their personality too this season. I feel like I know these people in real life and their personalities really show through the songs they pick, for the most part.

3. Season 5
A really good season too, because it produced Chris Daughtry, one of my all time favorite idols and because there was a lot of talent here as well. However, I really don't like Taylor Hicks. Throughout the season, I thought he was incredibly overrated and couldn't understand how he'd never been voted into the bottom 3, a title that previously only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood had, but come on they were amazing. There were a lot of MEH people as well though, like Bucky, Melissa, and Kevin (though I loved his personality...aww!). So yeah, probably a mix of great, good, and meh people this season.

4. Season 3
I liked season 3, but I didn't love it. The reason being, because the 3 divas (Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, La Toya) were SOOOO pimped out and so incredibly overrated to me. The judges say they like variety. Ok. But for the most part, these three women, IMO did basically the same type of thing every week... well maybe not Fantasia, but definitely the other two. And La Toya was SO SO SO SO SO BORING. She had an excellent voice, but after finishing in 4th place you think you'd know something about her. I knew absolutely nothing about her by the end. I knew more about Matt Rogers, who finished in 11th place. And to me, that's really bad. I was more of a fan of the younger ones (Diana, Jasmine, John) because they seemed more real and genuine than the divas. Ugh and I was extremely disappointed with the finale. I can't stand Fantasia and her screeching. I saw the tour this year...and oh my god. Summertime, for me, was absolutely unbearable. Half of the song was her screaming and saying "yeah yeah yeah yeah". Yet the judges LOVED HER. I didn't get it. Even the weeks when she was bad, they still loved her. And Diana, who IMO has such a better voice and is a better person was heavily criticized all season, even after she completely nailed "Don't Cry Out Loud" in the finale. So overall, I think this season had a lot of GOOD singers, but no one really GREAT.

5. Season 2
This would be higher, but I wasn't an avid idol watcher yet at this time. However I think that this season had 3 great singers: Clay, Kim L, and yes I will say this: RUBEN! Haha but it also had a bunch of mediocre singers as well (most of the people who got voted off toward the beginning). This season, IMO, also had the most suspenseful finale. I think that the winner was really obvious in all previous seasons, but for this one, I really was on the edge of my seat.

6. Season 6
I hate this season with a fiery passion because everyone is soooo...soooo...boring. They were all really good singers (minus Sanjaya) but just UGH! I was rarely entertained by a full episode of idol this season. It's sad to say, but Sanjaya was the most entertaining out of all of them and he had an awful voice . I do think that the right person won the competition though because Jordin can really sing. If she didn't win, perhaps Melinda should have.

7. Season 1
Lets all be honest here haha.. the season is terrible. Would anyone, ANYONE on this season's top 10, besides Kelly, Tamyra, and MAYYYYBE Christina Christian, ever stand a chance of making top 12 in any other season? The answer is absolutely not . Another thing is that Nikki McKibbin was in the bottom 3 like every single week, but somehow she made the top 3 in the end I keep on wondering if this is what will happen to Kristy this season! But whatever, it was the first year, and I think people know better now.

lmao, i was gonna start this thread a few days ago. i love ranking threads

i started watching in Season 3, so i'll just rank Seasons 3-7.

1. Season 5 - This season was truly awesome. IMO, the entire top 10 was super talented. The musical diversity was what really made this season great - you had the rocker (Chris), the cute little blonde country singer (Kellie), the pop princess (Kat), the throwback singer (Taylor), the diva (Paris), the soul guy (Elliott)...ect, lol. It was like all of the possible AI genres packed into one season. There was also never really a clear front-runner, which made it exciting. Once it got down to the top 8 or 9, everyone was pretty much on the same level as each other. The voting was kinda messed up at time (Mandisa only getting 9th, Chris's elimination even though it worked out in the end, TAYLOR WINNING), but overall, an awesome season.

2. Season 7 - I am REALLY enjoying this season. After the crapstorm that is referred to as Season 6, I didn't think I'd ever get as into Idol again as I was during Seasons 4-5. But I was wrong. The entire top 10 this year is great, IMO, aside from maybe Kristy, but even she isn't THAT bad. Similar to Season 5, everyone has their own style and personality which makes it really fun to watch. This could wind up beating out Season 5 when all is said and done, especially if (unlike Season 5) the right person wins this season *coughvotefordavidarchuletacough*.

3. Season 4 - This season was really great, too, and was the first year I REALLY got into AI. It brought me my favorite Idol ever (Carrie). This season was super talented, too - aside from Scott, everyone was pretty great. The only bone I would pick with it is that it didn't seem as "personal" as the other seasons - like, we didnt get the "getting to know the contestants" videos until top 6 week, and we didn't ANYTHING about a couple of them. Despite that though, this season was chock full of talent and just flat-out fun to watch.

4. Season 3 - Okay, looking back, let's be honest here...the talent in Season 3 was pretty bad. You had LaToya, who was a great singer but showed zero personality. You had Fantasia, who was good but ridiculously overpraised. And you had Diana and Jasmine, who were good singers with lots of personality but seemed very "unpolished". Everyone else was either boring or just bad. That being said, though, I think this was a fun season - the group medlies were at their best here, the commercials were hilarious (that shower porn commercial with John and LaToya ), and everyone had fun personalites. So talent-wise, Season 3 wasn't good, but the contestants actually had personalities so it's MUCH MUCH better then Season 6.

5. Season 6 - ...UGH. I hate everything about this season, aside from Jordin, who is awesome. Everyone in this season was bland as hell - for the most part they were all just generic pop singers. Not to mention most of the focus this season was on celebrity guest stars trying to pimp out their albums. I just really hated this season. -_- It was SO boring.

From what I've seen of 1 and 2 - 1's top 10 is full of crappy people aside from Kelly and Tamyra and 2 was exciting but Ruben, Clay, and Kim Locke were the only ones who really mattered.

My favorite seasons:

1. SEASON 4 (2005): Carrie Underwood totally rocked this year! Krisalicious is right; everyone (yes, including Scott Savol) had great personalities that really shined this year.

2. SEASON 7 (2008): Everyone (including Kristy, mind you) is very talented this year, and have cool personalities as well, especially my #1 seed, David Archuleta! You all rock!

3. SEASON 5 (2006): EmoJoe's right about everyone having different styles of musical genres, even though I personally liked Mandisa better than Paris Bennett for the diva this year, by far.

4. SEASON 1 (2002): The only 3 people that really stood out to me this season were Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini, & Tamyra Gray (thanks to Krisalicious for reminding me who was #3 that year). Yeah, not much to remember.

5. SEASON 2 (2003): Yep, Ruben, Clay, & Kimberley Locke definitely deserved to be in the Top 3 this year for sure. To this day, I'm STILL trying to figure out how Carmen Rasmusen got to be Simon's (of all people) wild-card pick, AND how she got so far in the Top 12!

6. SEASON 6 (2007): Sanjaya ruined my liking of this year for sure. At least Melinda and Jordin rocked this year, though.

7. SEASON 3 (2004): This season had my least favorite winner, Fantasia, which is why I'm placing this season dead last. Diana DeGarmo should have won this year for sure.

okay time to rank now that season 7 is done.

1. Season 5
2. Season 4
3. Season 7
4. Season 2 (from what ive seen)
5. Season 6
6. Season 3
7. Season 1 (from what ive seen)

conclusion: Idol will never return to the greatness of Seasons 4-5. this season came close but it got really weird and boring at the end.

and recently ive started to hate Season 6 less. it was boring but looking back it wasnt AWFUL, unlike Seasons 1 and 3 where almost everyone just flat-out sucked lol.
