OK guys, this has really been bothering me. Can somebody who watched this show when it originally aired help me? We know the long theme song played on Nick at Nite from season 4/5 or season 6, but did that version ever play when episodes originally aired? All of the clips I've seen from when the show was originally on uses a shorter theme song (one that nick at nite never uses) like this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JpQ8EAmB3Ro Can somebody tell if they ever used the really long version when the episodes originally aired? (This one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gMT_0eZGVxk)

Yes, they did air the long version on ABC. I can't tell you how many times, but they did. Also, they DIDN'T at times even air the theme at all. They just started the episode with the names of the actors airing at the bottom of the screen.

Really? That's weird, nick at nite always airs the theme with the cast. I own the DVD set and the first episode did credit the cast during the beginning scene, but it still used the full opening, just without any of the cast names.

I know the DVD's don't even use the LOWRIDER theme song, but have no idea what other differences there are on them. I know there was a thread here or on the blogs where the DVD's are reviewed.

Yeah, the music's the only difference. The first time I heard it, I HATED it! But now I really like it, even though I still prefer LR!

The theme music N@N used for the Luck of the Lopez Marathon was very interesting. They sped up the theme from whenever Max was older, but there was still only Carmen (no Veronica in the opening), but the last shot of the theme with them all in the air looks like it was from Season 1.

When Vick became a starring cast member, I wonder if they reshot the entire intro or just added him in digitally...Plus, when Veronica joined the show, they had to change it and take Carmen out, so I'm thinking it was done digitally?

Not a music question, but it ties in. It must have been fun for the actors shooting the opener. I'm assuming they jump on a trampoline while a photographer took their pictures, and they were edited together after, and put to music in slow motion. Good stuff.
Angie has quite a nice full body shot. Solomon, if you could ever get a screen cap of that Angie shot, that would make a nice avatar for you. |
