I like all the old shows you mentioned--The Munsters, Leave It To Beaver and I Love Lucy. Maybe it has something to do with age...if you're old enough to remember 'em the first time around, you kind of like them. I am less inclined to watch Bonanza and Gunsmoke, although I named my rabbit Chester!

That said, I definitely prefer a weekend of S&S. That's my fav.

I grew up watching the munsters liked them but as I stated earlier didnt like that Munsters wannabe addams family.

As far as leave it to beaver & I love lucy go Beaver was just too nicey nice unreal.
Lucy was too damn silly. And after reading all the behind the scenes things that went on the fact that William Frawley was an alcoholic.

That Desi Arnez had to stay on him about his drinking. So that he wouldnt show up drunk for the show. How Vivian Vance openly had admitted how much she hated working with Wiliam Frawley she despised him and We all know about Lucy & desi marriage they wont no ozzie & harriet

All the things I just said about I love lucy are not lies they are true & can be looked up and verified on the internet. If they are bound & determined to show beaver & lucy only give them a half hour one show then put other better shows IMO on

I agree, I definitely like the Munsters much better than the Addams Family. I've also heard lots of behind the scenes stuff about I Love Lucy too. Stories about how Vivian Vance and William Frawley hated each other. I also heard that VV hated that she had to play a more matronly, much older character than Lucy, when in real life she was only a couple of years older. All in all though, I still like the show and the behind the scenes stuff just makes it more interesting, imo.

Im not especially happy with TVLands line up. The older shows are generally good but Im too old to really appreciate the newer ones eg. Wings, Just Shoot Me, Golden Girls. And the new movie nights and "original programming" are the worst IMO.

There are way too many channels showing films already, and plenty of reality shows to go around. Stick with the classic TV programs, they are inexpensive for the network and great for people like me!! Chris

It looks like TV Land is changing their format more and more as time goes by. Their starting to play more of these reality shows, and I just have had about enough of that I can take. I wish they would get back to what they are known for. CLASSIC SITCOMS!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Thankfully, there may be a new cable channel ready to take the place of TVLand.

The company is called Equity Media Holdings and they have plans to launch a new channel dedicated to what TVLand used to be.....classic TV programs only!!

An article I read mentioned a few of the shows Equity plans to run including Hawaii Five-O and I Dream of Jeanie. (To be honest, Im not a big fan of IDofJeanie. But given the choice between High School Reunion or Barbara Eden, I'll take Barbara EVERY time).

Good luck to EQM.

Chris

Equity Media Holdings new network, called Retro Television Network (RTN), is available in many cities already. Thats the good news BarneyFife.

The bad news is, from what I just read and if I understand correctly, RTN is NOT an independent channel like TVLand (Sorry for implying that it was in my last post. I wrongfully assumed they were and for my mistake I deserve to be punished....no MASH, Andy Griffith Show or Sanford and Son for a whole week!! Which really hurts a re-run nut like me, ouch!!)

What it sounds like is RTN contracts with existing TV stations around the country, allowing them to pick and choose which RTN shows they want to air. They can show RTN re-runs all day if they want. Thats what I would love to happen!! Or they can air just one. Booooooo!! Very bad idea. Its up to your local affiliate to decide. Anyways, I hope I have the RTN story straight this time. Let me know if Im still confused

Chris

Unfortuantely they have not purchased S&Son yet.

Equity Media Holdings aka Retro TV Newtwork offers many many shows not available on TVLand and I think that is by design. (The list is below)
They probably want to air re-runs which are both popular and not found on other stations like TVLand.

TV Land definitely has changed a good deal from when it originally started. The format seems to be focused on reality TV shows now instead of classic TV shows. But what drives me crazy is the fact that they repeat so much of their shows. e.g., they will show a movie on Friday evening and then repeat it overnight and then repeat it the next morning/afternoon, etc. The same way with these reality shows, they will repeat these stupid things over and over and over again. I got so sick of watching "She's Got the Look," I wanted to pitch the TV out the window. I wish TV Land would stop emphasizing these reality shows and go back to their roots of showing classic TV shows such as Sanford and Son; Taxi; Andy Griffith Show; etc. TV Land is definitely not as good as it USED to be, IMHO.

Signed,
Respectfully,
Dutch

I totally agree with you dutch these reality shows on tvland suck bigtime and If I hear or see George Foreman again Im gonna scream. If they wanna show something about George Foreman show the Sanford & Son Episode he was in about Lamonts Play.

Except for Steve Martin's the jerk and the Chevy Chase Vacation movies the rest suck. The only reason they do these awful reality shows is that they are so cheap to make anyways. .
