Default The scene in the 7pm episode tonight was stolen from THE JEFFERSONS

When Vera falls off the ladder and has to go to the hospital, once Mel went to see her he thought she was the woman in the body cast when Vera was in the bathroom and then vera walks out

Just like on the Jeffersons when george went to go see Florence at the hospital and she was in the bathroom, george thought she was the lady in the body cast and was pouring out his heart to her

Only difference is FLORENCE never told George she heard what he said, she pretended like she never knew

dam the writers off Alice had to COPY????????

For some reason, I think that scene was played out on another sitcom too. I know someone can come up with another show that used that plot.

See, I told you. I remember that.

I think there may be more.

Those scripts must be at some "library" where all tv shows have access to them. Or, the same writers from ALICE worked on THE JEFFERSONS.

Thank you for reminding me of that. Those three had at least 20 years of television under their belts (at that time) so they have seen a lot of plots and storylines. I am sure they just recycled a lot of what they had seen work before.

Also William Asher was a director and producer on Alice during the early seasons--so we have more Lucy connections there (as well as Bewitched, which "borrowed" from Lucy a few times too)

Yep. This topic has been talked abt before, so I am not surprised that ALICE had similar plots or storylines from other shows. What I want to know is WHAT SHOW NEVER COPIED FROM ANOTHER SHOW?

BTW, when Alice copied the The Jeffersons scene, had that scene already aired on the Jeffersons? Could it be the Jeffersons copied Alice instead?

I know I've seen a similar scene on another show too, besides Martin and The Jeffersons, but I can't think of it right now.

Not to be picky, but it was actually the 83-84 season, speciifcally, it aired 3-25-84 (almost 24 years to the date! )

Which episode is this Jeffersons one? Is it this one?
http://www.tv.com/the-jeffersons/the...8/summary.html
If so, it aired 2 months before the Alice one in this thread.

It was also on an episode of the Golden Girls (kind of)

There was a woman in the hospital room with her husband and Blanche thought it was her boyfriend, but he was in the next bed over

Awesome research!! Thank you. So both storylines were used in the SAME SEASON on two different shows. Interesting. I wonder if I caught that similarity back when it aired originally?
