Default What death was more shocking to you?

The mugging and eventual death of Beverly Lasalle in "Edith's Crisis of Faith" or the car explosion murder of Paul Benjamin in "Archie is Branded?"

Not to sound calous but, i suppose it was the nature of the show that neither one really shocked me......The Edith Rape ep bothered me very much, on the other hand, i've only ever seen it ONCE, the first time it played, Ive never watched it again and never will.

The rape episode is really tough to watch. But I LOVE the scene where she shoves the burnt cake in his face and runs out the back door!! I have never heard such applause and cheering from the studio audience. The scene where Gloria is hounding Edith to go ID the rapist and she bolts up and slaps Gloria, then hugs her and cries, then she looks over and sees Archie and Mike just sort of standing there speechless, and she says "C'mon Archie!... I gotta STOP HIM!"....I cry at that scene every time!!

I think the Beverly LaSalle death is more shocking. Because we got to "know" Beverly a little more. We saw her bond with Edith and have fun with Archie We only saw Paul Benjamin in the one episode, AND the episode was somewhat violence-related. Beverly's mugging and death was so unexoected, so random, and we knew was a sweet person he/she was. I think that's what made it more shocking. Also, Edith's difficulty in accepting her death made it worse.

Seeing as how I never saw the car explosion episode, I'm going to have to say the death of Beverly La Salle. Altho I didn't agree with the lifestyle he lived, she was still a HUMAN BEING with feelings.
Archie: She was a nice fella.

I've never seen the rape episode. Just that clip of Edith shoving the cake in the rapist face. I'm going to check YouTube.

Paul Benjamin's death in the car explosion shocked me the most. I really wasn't expecting that to happen at all.

I saw it coming - but it really was an emotional episode. Archie was starting to really like him, despite Paul being Jewish. Plus, that was Gregory Sierra playing Paul, so I was already teary!!

I'm with you on the Edith rape. I watch AITF for the laughs. That was just too serious of a show for me.

I agree. I really liked Beverly and was sad when she was killed.

I think that death Paul Benjamin in "Archie Is Branded" is the most shocking of the two. Even though Beverly's death was the sadder of the two because we had seen more of him than we did of Paul. I think Beverly's death was more sad than shocking.

I remember the first time I saw "Archie Is Branded", I was totally shocked when Paul is killed in the car explosion. I had never seen anything like this on a sitcom before.
