Robin Williams to guest on SVU - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Oscar winner Robin Williams will make a rare TV appearance on NBC's crime drama "Law & Order: SVU."

On an episode slated to air April 29, he will play a law-abiding engineer whose life takes a tragic turn, he becomes an ardent believer in the necessity of challenging authority.

"We are thrilled that one of the most talented and versatile actors around will be starring in this powerful and complex special 200th episode," executive producer Neal Baer said. "We can't imagine anyone else doing this role."

robin gave a great preformance in the ep and should get an emmy nod for it imho

Robin Williams has proved himself to be soooo much more than a comedian in movies such as The Night Listener and One Hour Photo. His work on this SVU episode was right up there with his fact-based, emotionally troubled performance in the first and his quiet, calculating, escalatingly crazy character in the second!

The only quibble I would have was not with the performance but with the ending. Somehow I think it was unrealistic--both to the fictional character's growing insanity and to what a truly suicidal person might have done in reality--to have him just walk into the river. He might have survived that, and if he really wanted to die and had explosives rigged to his ankle, I think he should have run back into the recording studio before setting them off.

I also wonder if the character was written with the idea of a younger, not necessarily famous actor portraying him. After all, he had only been widowed a couple years earlier and the child was his first....

I saw last night's episode. Robin is good at playing weirdos hahahahahahaha. He was weird in One Hour Photo and Insomnia movies.
