Default New Jack Benny DVD "Tin" To Include Audrey Meadows

A news story at tvshowsondvd.com (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Jac...st-Of-Tin/9181) says that a tin of The Jack Benny Show will contain 10 episodes on 2 DVDs, including shows featuring Fred MacMurray, George Burns, Audrey Meadows, and more.

I'm sure that these are mostly the same public domain shows that keep popping up, though I'm not sure how many releases have the shows with Burns, Meadows, and others. Just wanted to pass this along!

Thanks for the info. I'm a big fan of Jack Benny and have most of the available DVDs. I don't remember seeing an episode with Audry Meadow before so I'll definately look into getting this set.

I've often wondered why Sitcoms Online doesn't have a Jack Benny Show message board.

Larry,

I've only seen a clip from the Benny show with Audrey, but unless she made more than one appearance on the show, I'm pretty certain the episode that will be released is from 1958 and they do a take-off on The Honeymooners with Audrey playing Alice.

Not only do I wish there was a board for Benny on here, I wish more of his stuff was in circulation outside of the usual public domain labels. He was always one of my father's favorites, and I would love to be able to get some of the shows for him. I thought about getting some of Jack's live TV shows available from places like Shokus and so on though ....

Remember when Jack Benny made a surprise appearance on The Honeymooners as the Kramdens' tightwad landlord? What perfect casting!

I'm pretty sure that's the only time she appeared on The Jack Benny Show.

Haha, yes, Jack Benny played the landlord in "Principle Of The Thing." I agree, he was perfect for the role!

yes; I'm pretty sure that WAS the only time she was on Bennys show. I have that episode on VHS-I sent away for it from some mail-order company YEARS ago. You're right; she does play Alice in a "Honeymooners" parody. With Jack as Ralph and Dennis Day as Norton. They don't show Trixie in it; and the Kramdens also have a telephone, in fact, at one point Alice is talking to Trixie on it. Also, at the beginning of the sketch they show the exterior of the apt. building, then the outside of the Kramdens window.

I also wish there was a board for "THE JACK BENNY SHOW" on here, and they'd release it on DVD.

Sometime in the early to mid-1990s there was a 5 volume video release of The Jack Benny Show on VHS. I have two of the five volumes, but I wish they would release all those shows!

There's a cheapo box set of 41 episodes of the Jack Benny Show available. I got it at a local dollar store for about $5.00. See link:

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Jack-Benn...544152&sr=1-20

Scroll down at the link for the list of episodes someone put together. The Honeymooners skit is on disc #2.

I just picked this late last week when I walked past the $5 bin at Wally World and it caught my eye by accident. From what I have watched so far, the shows are in pretty decent quality except for the Audrey Meadows episode! (Go figure, uh?)

Like I said, the quality on the shows I've watched so far is pretty good, except for the show with Audrey. There's even a few non-Jack Benny Shows included, including two shows that Jack starred in for General Electric Theater.

What does the DVD cover look like; is it a picture of Jack Benny? I'll be at Walmart Saturday and now will rifle through the $5 DVD bin.

Thanks

Alright, I got the Walmart DVD! It took some doing digging through all those bad movies in the $5 bin to find the Jack Benny DVD, but it was well worth it. I already have some of the episodes on the other Jack Benny DVDs but I didn't have the Audrey Meadows or Burns and Allen episodes. Those are the only "New" episodes that I've watched so far. They are both very funny.

Thanks everyone for mentioning the box set. I wouldn't have known it existed without this thread.
