...But I just recently purchased the complete series set of I Love Lucy, albeit all the talk about the poor packaging. My one concern is the protection of the DVD's. As these DVD's will undoubtedly get damaged over time, what do we do perhaps if one DVD gets scratched beyond repair? Do we toss the entire collection and repurchase the set (assuming it is still available X years down the road)? In general, what do we do if we purchase a set and one particular DVD out of many becomes damaged?

Also, would it have been too difficult to for the studio to utilize the same small digibook cases used in the season sets? With the package as large as it already is, it seems to me that 20-25 of these cases would fit, and would certainly protect the DVD's far more.

I too await answers for this question. I have a Gilligan season, where one disc does not play about half the episodes. (The double-sided discs damage easily.)
I also lost one disc of a Bewitched set!

I was thinking about putting the partial sets out on Ebay, in case someone can make an entire set out of my partials.

Good points and you're right about everything, i think they make it flimsy so we'll all have to buy them again, look at how many times we've bought them already. I taped them in beta, then in VHS then i became a member of Columbia House and got those, then they came out in every which way, then 4 eps at a time and then one season at a time and now this, it just never ends, I also forgot about teh ILL Laser disc too. I kept my individual seasons to watch and kept that ****ty made box wrapped up for years from now. By then, they'll have the new color version and they'll have them in Blu Ray and then . . .

We don't live in a society where things are built to last anymore. Where people take PRIDE in good workmanship. So things are made to "toss" when they wear out and they wear out FAST. Because they WANT us to spend MORE of our money!
