Default Roseanne on BluRay

Wonder if we will ever see the day when the entire series could/would be re-released on the BluRay format, for those with HiDef systems,

Wishful thinking.

out of curiosity, how much better can you make a sitcom shot on tape look?

...and do you really think it wise to look at Roseanne Barr at that high a resolution?

Honestly, the only upside for shows that didn't originally broadcast in HD is that you could put significantly more episodes onto a single disc, lowering production costs and thus making releases cost effective. However, this cost effectivity won't even come around until Blu-ray has a few more years under it's belt and costs normalize, so you shouldn't except to see massive TV on BD for a few years yet.

Wasn't really thinking of Roseanne more along the line of Becky's gorgeous little butt.

I recently found out that they are taking old shows such as Friends and 70's Show and are going to release them on blu-ray for the first time ever. So they might bring Roseanne out on blu-ray someday too, only time will tell I guess.

I'm not an expert of cameras and so on.
But we can find film from the 30's and the 40's on bluray, maybe it could happen also for some old tv show.

But I also remember that Shawn Ryan, author of 'The Shield', said that 'The Shield' will never come out on BD because it wasn't good enoguh, speaking in terms of video quality.
This confuses me a little.

the orginal material wasn't filmed in high-definition (heck it may even have been shot on video tape) and so stretching and blowing up the picture to the HD resoultion will make it look much worse, unless they could somehow afford to digitally remaster everything - which they can't because they would never sell enough copies to break even.
