Default Favorite season?

Out of the six I Love Lucy seasons, which one season is your favorite?

I know there are sooo many memorable episodes & they are all hilarious & unique in their own way. But my favorite season would have to be season 4 because that was the one where they went to Hollywood. It was nice to see a change from the apartment and the Tropicana club. Seeing them in different states & situations on the way was awesome. And then of course all of the situations Lucy got herself into when she got TO Hollywood! All of those episodes were hilarious & having other movie stars appear on the show was genius.

Yes, season four and the Hollywood shows is my all time favorite also, Europe is next, maybe the country and the earlier seasons next, i think it would go like this, 4, then 5, then 6 tied with 2 and 3 and season 1 being my least favorite except for the one with Vitameatavegamin.

I agree, 6 is just barely ok, it's on a par with season one, if they vould have had more great shows like the eggs it would have been different. But i really think they were running out of ideas by then.

I would say season 3. In fact, my favorite period is from season 2, after things get 'settled' from Little Ricky's birth and they change apartments, through most of season 4, including the trip across the country and the first few Hollywood eps. Most of the eps I really like are in that period... buying oil stock, Madame X, watching boxing on TV, equal rights, Lucy bets she can tell the truth... The first season had broader comedy than is necessary, then the pregnancy and childbirth eps and flashbacks, then comes the period of great character comedy that lasts for the rest of the run. But after they settled in their home-away-from-home in Hollywood, there begins the outrageous starstruck Lucy causing a disaster for every celebrity she meets, then they start going from one place to another continually, as if (truthfully) out of ideas for the NY apartment setting, then ending in the broken eggs, the lopsided brick barbecue ,and mowing down tulips in Connecticut. The series IMO was simply the best after the characters and setting got really adjusted to each other, but before they had to take the show elsewhere from the familiar setting.

Very true, and they did so many shows back then in each season that they HAD to eventually run out of ideas, but character development really is the KEY to great comedy and they achieved that. They would do 35 shows a season sometimes, they do like 21 today, no wonder they ran out of ideas at 180 plus the 13 hour ones.

I can't pick a favorite... but I do enjoy season 1... I must be the odd gal out (that's okay, I'm used to odd). Why is season 1 not cool for everyone else?

I like some of the episodes in Season 1, but for me there are too many I don't like. For instance.........DRAFTED! I guess that's why it's not a favorite of mine.

Because in any series, the first season they get used to the characters, they are establishing things, the people aren't as comfortable with each other yet and they still don't know what works best yet, but they developed it all by seasons end. I mean, come on, Vite is one of the eps so they had it going like a finely oiled machine by the tenth show or so, one of my all time favorites is The Fur Coat and that also is in these, so . . .

I can respect those reasons, Lodee and SPLAIN. As a sapless romantic... I meant HOPELESS... I liked season 1 because of all of the sweet moments between Ricky and Lucy. Not that there weren't sweet moments in later seasons...

To contrast, I'd have to say season 6 was my least favorite. I didn't enjoy the Connecticut episodes as much as earlier seasons.

I enjoy season 1 ... from about "Breaking the Lease" on, though there are still a few rough ones in there. However, I enjoy a few from earlier in the season before "Lease," but I can't decide which season I like the best. I love season 2 for the baby shows, but I like season 6 when everyone moves to Connecticut as well.

Season 5 I sometimes get bored with because of the Europe shows, and I can't stand "Lucy Goes to Scotland." However, if I ever can see the show in the colorized version then maybe I will appreciate it more!

I like seasons 1,2, and 3. I hate it when they start travelling to Europe, the country house, and when Little Ricky gets older AND I really hate the Scotland episode.
