Default Mouthwash

What type of mouthwash do you use/prefer?

I use Crest's wintergreen mouthwash. It doesn't burn as much as Listerine does.

ACT Restoring. Cinnamon flavored. And it burns.

I used to use the ACT Flouride rince, but apparently ACT decided to take that and add alcohol to it, which disappointed me, but oh well. I bought the children's one too (bubblegum flavored) since it has no alcohol.

There must be something about listerine because i know a lot of people that say Listerine burns the heck out of their mouth. I use Crest, it works just as good without the burn. Plus it tastes and smells way better.

I do too. My step-daughter is a dental hygienist and the dental office she works for uses that brand. My dentist also uses that brand and recommends it better for you because of the fact it doesn't have alcohol in it. Like they say, it doesn't have to burn to know that it works.

In general I can't stand any product other than gum with a mint taste, which of course always leaves me up a creek in regards to dental products. The only reassuring thing is that manufacturers are FINALLY getting the hint that some folks don't care for mint, and are starting to roll out things like orange, etc.

As for what brand: Honestly, I just jump types depending on cost, mood, etc.

Does anyone know if they make a mouthwash WITHOUT FLOURIDE!!

I have avoided flouride for many years as SODIUM FLOURIDE is a poison and not good for you!!

I would like to use mouthwash if I could find it w/o that crap in it!!

Is there a conspiracy theory you DON'T subscribe to?

It's safe at normal levels. Kids have had fluoride treatments since at lesst the 1950s, and we're still around. It's in all toothpastes.

AI:

Fluoride can be toxic in large amounts, but it is safe and beneficial for dental health at recommended levels. Excessive exposure, especially in children, can lead to dental fluorosis or other health issues.

Understanding Fluoride

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that is commonly added to drinking water and dental products to prevent cavities. While it is beneficial for dental health at recommended levels, it can be toxic in large amounts.

Toxicity of Fluoride

Safe Levels: At low concentrations, fluoride helps strengthen teeth and prevent decay.
Toxic Levels: Excessive exposure can lead to health issues, including dental fluorosis, which affects the appearance of teeth, and other potential health problems.

Health Effects of Excessive Fluoride

Dental Fluorosis: This condition occurs when children are exposed to high levels of fluoride while their teeth are developing, leading to discoloration and spots on teeth.
Other Health Risks: Prolonged exposure to high levels of fluoride may be linked to various health issues, including potential impacts on cognitive development in children.

Conclusion

Fluoride is not inherently a poison; it is the dosage that determines its safety. At recommended levels, it is effective for dental health, but caution is necessary to avoid excessive exposure, especially in children.
