Proposed sixth season theme song - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It is said that if the Brady Bunch had gone on to a sixth season Mike would be killed off (and it might start with his funeral) and the next season or two, it would probably not have gone beyond season seven, would consist largely of the kids trying to fix their mother up with other men. The adjustment of the kids, especially Peter and Bobby to the new situation would probably be the theme of a few episodes as well.

With that in mind, how might the theme song have been changed to reflect the new situation?

Here is one suggestion:

BRADY BUNCH THEME SONG SEASON SIX

This is the story, of a family Brady!
Who laughed and loved and really had blast,
for five long years they lived all together,
but it did not last...

[Mike's picture now replaced with a tombstone insribed with "R.I.P"]

Pete and Bobby must go on without their father,
but brother Greg shows how to be a man.
The girls cried with their widowed mother,
But now they've got a plan!

The boys joined in with their sisters,
and they knew it was much more than hunch.
That they've gotta find a match for their mother,
that's the way they all remained the Brady Bunch!

[The tombstone turns into a question mark]

That's the way we remained the Brady Bunch!

ok, good try at that!

(The imagery is a tad macabre). But I honestly could have not seen them go on without Robert Reed/Mike Brady.

Robert Reed may have quit, but Mike Brady would NEVER have died.

Actually, in the short lived drama "The Bradys" (the last reunion show) Mike was going to die in a helicopter crash, and it's been claimed the script was already written.

In any case, Sherwood Schwartz has stated quite clearly that if there had been a season six Mike Brady would have been killed off.

Yes, indeed. Proposed storyline ideas included having Carol re-discover her first husband!

Actually, had there been a season six, Mike would have been sent off on extended business trips. I think Sherwood realized that killing off Mike Brady would have not gone over that well.
