Cool Weekend Chat

Happy Weekend Everyone! What's going on? We've got a busy weekend. We're moving in two weeks, so we'll be bringing boxes over to our home, and I can get my kitchen, bathroom and some closets settled. That's the beauty of owning it already. We can take our time. Still, moving is such a hassle. I've been packing all week.

Hope everybody has a Blessed weekend!

We're expecting snow in just a matter of hours, so we may take two of my little cousins out on the sled that's been in the shed since before the dawn of man. lol.
Also, another one of my cousins has moved out of her parents house (I also happening to be staying with her parents) so we're going to turn her old room into there new bedroom. Alot of work ahead of us. But, we'll get it done.
I also have to catch up on my reading and go to church on Sunday.
Busy weekend for me, as well.
Good luck on your new house, Janice. Give us an update, huh?

I'm going to a funeral on Saturday... it's for my teacher who was murdered last weekend.

(I just got home two hours ago from her memorial service -- it was actually in the afternoon, but after the memorial service, I think half the school assembled at her favorite bar for an afternoon/evening of drinking in her honor)

Janice, you're moving? Are you staying local?

I am going to see Mom and Dad this weekend. I haven't been home in a few weeks, so I'm going to see the family and get some free food and take advantage of the free gym at their clubhouse.

If I'm lucky, maybe I'll squeeze in some ping pong.

Yes, we're moving just two towns over. Since the summer of 2004, my husband has been the Property Manager for a block in a Town Center. There's 17 stores there, Starbucks, Citizen Bank, Dunkin' Donuts, a Jeweler, Realtor, a few boutiques, etc. Above those, there are business offices (CPAs, law firms, etc). There are also four townhouses. We've been living in one of them, as part of his compensation. What a sweet deal it's been. Health insurance, and a three-bedroom townhouse, gorgeous, hardwood floors, high ceilings...overlooking a river, on a cobblestone terrace, that looks like something straight out of Paris. Those lantern streelights, a Tea Room, A French style boutique, cool retro feel. It's off the square that my husband manages. What a sweet deal it's been. Totally free, not even a phone bill. It was a nice, easy semi-retirement job for Lou, who busted his ass all of his life.

We've been renting out our home, which has been one headache another. We finally got rid of our deadbeat tenant last October, who happens to be my brother's best friend, lol. It was then one of those crossroads situation. Do we rent our home out and commit to at least another three years and pray for a decent tenant? Finally, it dawned on us to just go home. His job gives us a place to live and health insurance. Well, we have a lovely place to live, and Massachusetts has free health care for all now. The real deal kind too. The state just pays the tab for the plan you already have. As beautiful as this place is, I feel like I've been on an extended vacation, and I want to go home, which is what we're doing, two weeks from today, the 20th. My husband's retiring, and I'm just very excited. Sorry you asked yet?

Another factor was, knock on wood, suppose we did rent our home out again, and something happened to Lou. I'd be here, half nuts with grief....trying to get tenants out, so I could go back....handling a big move by myself. I'd be a blast to deal with...two cats, not in the best of health, no job. It's time to go home, now. Nobody's getting any younger here.

Well, today I FINALLY start my job at Sirius radio. I trained this past Monday. The place is soooooo cool. Just by walking through the halls, I got to see Barbara Walters, Chuck Zito and Jim Breuer.

It really seems to be a fun place to work. The only caveat, I am working 8pm to 4 am.

It's not in town -- it's 1 1/2 hours out of town and also in Mountain time instead of Central time (I'm 45 minutes from the MT/CT line) -- so other than the funeral, I don't plan to do anything else this weekend. I've been running around pretty much nonstop since, um, last Thursday I think, and I'm just going to take it easy while I still can. Been feeling like ass the last several days. I'll be really glad when the funeral is over tomorrow.

Sounds like a good plan.

Sorry I can't help you move, I'm very busy doing things that keep me from helping people move.

Nothing going on today, we're supposed to get some rough weather tonight of the snow and ice variety, so I should probably stay home.

Tomorrow I may go see my uncle in the hospital, though it's really hard seeing him like this.

Then of course Sunday I have church and a nice, long nap!

Staying home, watching dvd's, we've got freezing rain here so I won't venture out. Hubby's supposed to come back from Daytona sunday but if the weather's bad they'll have to stay an extra day. Riding a motorcycle in snow & ice is a big no-no.

I have to write an anaylsis paper on Pap from Huck Finn, but other than that, nothing. Nicks gonna be hanging with his friends and my mom's not feeling to well to do anything, so I'll just be stuck here cleaning.

LOL, I just did a paper on Huck Finn last weekend

I'm not doing much this weekend. We're due for some torrential downpour tonight and tomorrow, so my plans are pretty much shot That sucks because I actually switched my shifts--instead of working my usual 2:30-10 on Saturday, they wanted me to do those hours on Sunday because they need help due to the St. Patricks parade in our town (that they organize). So, now I have off tomorrow and probably won't get to go out If the weather is somewhat bearable in the afternoon, my friend and I are going out to a pizzeria we've been dying to try. Sunday I am working.

I'm just going to dye my hair tonight and take it easy...I just got back from the mall a little while ago and am dying to test out all my new make-up products, lol.

Sounds like fun. I'd like to dye my hair again. I liked it when I dyed it dark 2 years ago.
