I think a show following the life of Carla and her kids, would've made a better spinoff than the Tortellis.

Very true, but the problem with Nick, is he was such an unlikable character. Carla was very abrasive, but people liked her. |

True. I could only handle Nick in small doses, very small doses and I am sure many viewers felt the same. Too bad we couldn't see Carla a lot more and have a spin-off with her family.

I personally couldnt stand Carla, although she was useful as an anarchist on Cheers. Now, besides the fact that Cheers needed the character, I dont think shed have been any more likeable than Nick, if spun off.......besides, what would you do with all those kids of various ages? (It would have been a casting nightmare!)

The Tortellis was a very loose spin-off, the characters started on Cheers but the show itself had little in common with the Cheers style or comedy thrust.
Nick: "Ah, Loretta, you extended my metaphor." Loretta: "I'm sorry, Nicky, I didn't mean to, I was just sitting here" |

That could have been a much dirtier joke, if they had tried

I am sure I watched or tried to watch more than 1 episode, but 1 joke is all I remember.

I can believe that (I'm sure it was a VERY forgetable show)

I could never see Carla leaving the Cheers cast, but if you think about it. the Carla character was for all intents and purposes a precursor to Rosanne.
Think about it.. Carla is a take no guff hard working woman, maybe they could have spun her off into her own show long before they created Roseanne.
