They are not even from the same era as far as television shows are concerned. Nor is Matthew even in the same league as John. John lives on regardless of his untimely death. Besides, John had looks, Matthew...

This isn't really much of a fair poll IMO, John and Matthew didn't quite execute the same type of comedy, John while known for his great comedic timing was also known for mastering physical comedy. Also their best known characters are nothing alike. Jack Tripper was definitely not as sardonic as Chandler Bing.

I agree, both are talented, they're just very different. Ritter was a great physical comedian, Perry was a great smart-ass. I have to admit that I like Perry better because I love sardonic humor, much like how Darlene was my favorite on Roseanne.
