Just a question for you... Who are those 4 people that you have as your icon? They remind me of the Romanov's 4 girls.

Pretty sure it is the Romanov's daughters. I think she has mentioned before that the Anna Anderson/Anastasia controversy is one of her favorite cases.

Really? Wow I was right. I'm VERY intrigued by the Romanovs. And the controversy about whether or not Anna Anderson was Anastasia.

Wonder if there are any forums out there discussing this case? I'd love to get in on it.

Sorry for the delay in responding.
And good memory Justin

Yes, it is the Romanov girls. I haven't found a message board yet, but I did find this incredible website that completely refutes Anna Anderson's claim. I was once a supporter, but no longer. I emailed the host but never heard back from her. Nonetheless, it's a great site and an intriging case.

I believe they proved awhile back through DNA that Anna Anderson was not
a Romanov.

"Recent DNA analysis of hair and tissue samples from Anderson seemed to prove that she was not Anastasia, but Franziska Schanzkowska. But some of Anderson's supporters cling to hope, saying that the tissue tested was not really Anderson's. They believe Anna Anderson - Anastasia - was swindled out of her true name and inheritance."

Should have found this for my earlier post....

Very true, and also, the last 2 bodies (of Alexei and either Anastasia or Maria) were recently discovered and id'd through DNA.....

Still a cool story. She fooled a lot of people.

I agree with you! Very fascinating, almost a shame that the truth is so solid and we can't continue to wonder....

Thanks for that link Kamy! I've checked it out but haven't had the time to really read through it yet. Although it does look very interesting!

What's your opinion on this? Do you think that Anna Anderson was Anastasia?

I have heard somewhere that Anna Anderson couldn't speak a lick of Russian. Any truth to this?

Default An apology to Kamy

Since this is the unofficial "Kamy thread" I figured I would use it to say that I want to make a public apology to Kamy. In the past, I have said some very nasty things to her without cause, and it was totally inappropriate on my part. I feel bad for saying these things to Kamy. She is an intelligent and valued poster here and I enjoy reading her posts.

I used to really believe her...I even believed like many supporters that is wasn't her DNA compared to the Romanovs. Many still believe that the DNA used was not safely stored and was contaminated therefore not giving reliable results. I did a lot of research and after finding that site, the facts are indisputable---DNA doesn't match, she couldn't speak any russian (correct Justin), and her resemblance to the missing Polish woman, Franziska Schanzkowska is undeniable, and DNA proved to match Franziska's distant nephew.

Sadly, the allure of this case is almost gone, I almost wish it was never "solved". It's so much more fun to wonder....

And to Justin, no problem, apology accepted, I really appreciate it.

Wow, I'm basking in the glow of popularity, something I missed out on in high school

This is a pretty basic question, but it has been awhile since I read about this story. Did any of the surviving members of the family believe Anna Anderson's claims? Wasn't she introduced to a man who knew/played with Anastasia when they were both children and he believed Anna was legit?
