Default Discussion Thread about the Show "Thea" that made its debut on BET last night

Watched this show for the first time and it was watchable. I felt the pilot ep was too predictable when the 2nd oldest son jerome snuck out because his Mom would be gone until 10pm and she comes back much earlier. This wasn't a ABC type of sitcom, it would have lasted LONGER on UPN if it was around during the time UPN was created. It was finally good to see

Thea is pretty similar to my mother. She would never humiliate me in front of my friends even if I did something wrong, though if I did something bad, I would get it when I got home. I could also never lie to her without paying for it.

It's nice to see a young Brandy and also Yvette Wilson before Moesha and The Parkers.

I was wondering was it really true that the second son, Jerome, was only in 5 eps?????-lol I read that on IMDB.com

I think Jerome was around the whole season, but I'm not positive.

I remembered this show a lot after watching it today, especially the youngest son.

Well you already watched it on ABC in 1993 so you are fine-lol You proabably missed it because of the ODD a$$ time they aired the show,, 3am and 12pm instead of a normal slot like in between 8pm and 11pm

Just a heads up:

Slight schedule change for Saturdays:

Effective Saturday, March 8:
9am-10am Back-to-back episodes of Thea (replaces back-to-back Diff'rent Strokes)

Not a big deal for DS fans because the Saturday airings were just repeats of Mondays...but great news for Thea fans because now we get two episodes a week rather than one! 9am episode reairs at 3am late that night and 9:30am will be repeats at 12pm next day. So, might as well record 9-10am Saturdays now!

As I said many times to you already, TV listings do not get up to date as fast as we post information. Thea will air no matter what your listing say.

So instead of setting my alarm for 9:55am on Sat morning, I now have to set it for 8:55am.

I have a problem with this 9am time slot, I only have cab;e on one tv which I watch N@N on to fall sleep and that will stop me from recording Thea on Saturday Mornings

Don't know what to do now. BET has me in a TVwatching Jam

Thea was definetely a classic. I think you will enjoy it. Many sources around the internet and I vaguely remember reading an article in the AJC about how ABC wanted more say in the storylines of their show. Thea, Phenom and others weren't having hence hence their cancellations even with good ratings for the 93-94 season. Me and the Boys (Steve Harvey's first sitcom) in 94-95suffered the same fate. As far Thea blending in with ABC, you have to remember this was the time when Family Matters, Where I Live (another short lived classic), Hanging with Mr. Cooper, Getting By and others were on.

But Thea didn't have good ratings, it wasn't in the Top 30 after season 1. now that was the case with Me and the Boys which was in the Top 20 and was still cancelled

What were Thea's ratings? I always thought it was the fallout with ABC that did the show in. The cancellation of Me and the Boys is still a sore topic along with Where I Live (WIL). But WIL was tossed on Saturday night in season two to die like other shows ABC didn't like that the time.
