TruTv picks up 'Man vs. Cartoon'

TruTV is ready to pit "Man vs. Cartoon."

The former Court TV network has given a series pickup to the unscripted project, which investigates whether the stuff seen in cartoons is actually possible in real life.

TruTV is ordering six hourlong episodes from Warner Horizon and Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Films & Television; the series will draw on characters and situations from Warner Bros.' vast animation library.

TruTV executive vp and GM Marc Juris said the project offers a new take on the investigation process and will be a perfect fit with the network's schedule, whose tag line is "Not Reality. Actuality."

"As you know, we have a lot of investigative programming on the air, and we thought this was a really interesting way to show the process of investigation," he said. "We'll see if these things are scientifically possible and, if so, how we can use this information."


One example of something the show might investigate is whether it's possible to build a functioning human slingshot.

Piligian (Discovery's "Dirty Jobs") will exec produce with David Wechter (Showtime's "Penn & Teller: Bull****!"). Also involved in the series is Kathleen Burns Rohr, Pilgrim's vp production. TruTV development head Lauren Gellert developed for the network.

The project was previously announced last year as part of the network's development slate.
