Exclamation Update on Rolex Robbers!

I got a call today from a police officer who was involved in the case. He said that Jackie Edmonds turned herself in soon after the UM segment about her aired. Her and the other girls were working for two men and they would give all the stolen cash & belongings to them. Said Jackie and the girls could make upwards of $25 million a year. These guys that ran the scam were supplying money to a drug cartel in Columbia and also involved with some prizefighters. Jackie agreed to turn states evidence and testify against the two. The men got 25-45 years and Jackie had to spend one year in prison. Her whereabouts are unknown.

That's amazing. I wonder if there was ever an update on UM.

He said it aired 3 times and there was an update. I had never heard about it before now though.

What I find strange is if she turned herself in after it aired the first time, they didn't update it on special 3. They did update the Burns and Weeks cases, and you would think they would be all over this one too if it had been solved by then. According to the episode guide, "special 2" was rerun again on December 30, 1987. Perhaps she turned herself in after this broadcast? I am having a hard time finding the third time this was allegedly rerun, but I suppose it is not out of the question that they could have recycled the episode again, or possibly just this particular segment, and it didn't make the episode guide.

I know this is probably damn near impossible considering the lack of material out there, but I think it would be really interesting if someone had rerun versions of the early specials. Perhaps some of these updates materialized on the repeats, as did the update on the case of George Marsh, and the apparent update in this case.

I would hope she is in some kind of witness protection program. UM always showed a clip of that segment in "solved" portion of the show's intro. Also, was it ever mentioned that this scheme could be a part of something that big?

I still wonder if in any way, shape or form that some type of update might have aired during special #4? (the only special not currently circulating in its NBC form)

He was correct, there was an update aired on 11/9/88. Jackie turned herself in at a church in Texas. She claimed that many people recognized her from UM and asked her about it(!) She said the show portrayed her unfavorably and that she wasn't like that at all. There was a brief snippet of an interview with her and she stated simply "I'm a good person". Apparently she pleaded guilty to grand theft in Texas and was sentenced to five months in county. Stack said that she was also being extradited to Louisiana to face more charges there. No mention of what became of the other girls.

I found an episode of Oprah from 1988 about female thieves, focusing on these drugging type robberies. Some mugshots of women wanted for similar crimes are shown. Jackie Edmonds and Carol Falwood are among them. An LAPD investigator is interviewed and says that the last time her heard from Carol Falwood, she was in Oklahoma.

Very interesting!

Here is another thread that is more focused on Fullwood and the other ladies...

http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...jackie+edmonds

Basically, I found some information through a court records search that Fullwood was arrested in 1995 in South Carolina. Unfortunately, I don't know what the charges were but they were dropped. The same Carol Fullwood also had been charged in California for burglary, so I would guess it's the same person we saw on UM.

Since she was picked up in 1995, even if the charges were unrelated, I would guess that her burglary charges were dealt with at that time. Ergo, I would guess she isn't considered a wanted fugitive anymore. Hell, the records I found even disclosed her phone number, but I don't have the cajones to call her up and ask if she was once one of the "Rolex Robbers."
