It seems like I'm watching the reruns forever; does anyone know how many seasons it ran for ?

9 seasons, 1984-1992.

Nope. Getting close the end of season 5.

You mean January 1984 (since it was a mid-season show during the 1983-84 TV season and one of the reasons why you saw a copyright saying 1983, instead of 1984 at the end of some S1 eps.) until 1992.
