Default Who would have been elected Governor on "Benson"

I'm doing a poll about the TV Series called Benson. In the final episode of "Benson", Benson and Governor Gatling ran for the position of Governor. When Gatling ran for governor last time, he ran as an Independent candidate and he could run for a second term as an Independent. Not only that, but he could also run for a third term as Governor, which he did.

The last episode ended when Benson and Gatling were watching the election returns together, but when the announcement was made on who won the election, no name was even mentioned.

If Benson had been renewed for an eighth season, who do you think would have won the election: 1) Benson, 2) Gatling, 3) or the crooked Senator?

I think Benson would have won the election, but Gatling should stay on as well as Benson's policy advisor, or consultant.

Who do you think would be elected Governor?

I wanted Gatling but I think the writers would have had Benson win that election.

if the question is "if the show had been renewed for an eighth season", then I think that Benson would've had to have won (it really wouldn't have made much sense otherwise).

I think that if the show HAD continued though, I would almost rather they had changed things; let the crooked senator win, have everyone do something else and basically turn it into a NEW show. I don't think the show would've lasted another season without making BIG changes.

Maybe if senator Tyler won the election, Gene Gatling could've gone back home to run his lumber mill which by then would have been in serious financial trouble. Than he could've hired Benson to help save the business and keep an eye on Katie so she couldn't run off with any boys.

George W. Bush was elected governor of Texas and president of the United States, so anythings possible.

Anyway...I was thinking more on the lines of the series moving out of the mansion to the small town where the Gatling lumber mill was located.
Maybe Benson could be elected sheriff and Clayton could be his deputy or something.
Please don't take this to seriously, Im just having fun with this stuff.

I didn't vote in the poll b/c I agree with BensonFan, and think the writers were planning to have Benson win. But I would have preferred Gene.

That description of blink’s, of the show moving to the mill town (which I personally call Gatling) reminds me of the first time the Governor ran for re-election and apparently lost. The way they were going about things gave me the feeling the writers were open to having the show go that direction, but decided not to.

Anyone else get that feeling as well?
