Here are a few new items I have been tinkering with at the shop, all will be on view this Spring on my 9th Avenue Design website.
This is a little "Baby Tree" sculpt I did today. It's about 8" high. |

I saw this cool picture of a statue online, so I did a little copying and I came up with this.
This one is called "Preach." |

This is a big sucker. It's a celtic themed cross I made with some 1/2 inch square tubing and a ring we use for decorative railings. The back part is cut out of an I-Beam. Still have to do more work on this one.

OMG those are absolutely gorgeous. What a touch you have.
Question: How do you make them shiny? |

I cut my pieces using an Oxyacetylene torch, which leaves the metal very charred and full of slag. It's very ugly. I then use a combination of standard grinding wheels on my grinders to clean up all the ugly slag and then I use flap discs, which are a much finer grinding disc to polish the metal to an almost glass like surface. It strips off all the old rusty metal, exposing a nice clean surface. If you have ever seen an episode of American Chopper, they always use flap discs to grind their welds. Actually, truth be told, it's all done with magic.

Those pieces are very impressive, Tom. I can really see the progress from when you first started. Really, beautiful work!

The website will be up in the next few months. I'm kicking around some ideas with a few computer guru friends. |

Thank you for all the kind words folks. I'm glad you like what you see.
The website will be up soon. I'm meeting with a friend tomorrow to discuss some ideas. Here is another "Baby tree" i finished today. I made the tree the other day when I made the first one, and today i made the base and put it together. |

I wanted to do another celtic cross using the same materials I used for the other cross, but I wanted to make it a bit bigger to hang on the wall, so I put this together yesterday.
The candle holder part is made from two kinds of mounting brackets we use for handrails. This piece measures 16" high by 10" wide. Candle not included.
