Default Was Dark shadows copying Twilight Zone with actor Mitch Ryan?

Admit it. Ryan (Burke Devlin #1) does look like TZ creator Rod Serling an awful lot--no? Yes! I wonder if Serling saw early DS and was scared by the resemblance. Did Serling even attempt to take Dan Curtis to court over this?

You can't be serious, I like both shows but Rod Serling wouldn't have a leg to stand on if he tried to take Dan Curtis to court over Mitchell Ryan/Burke Devlin bearing any kind of resemblance to him. Apparently you've never noticed the fine print during the credits of many shows that states:

Any resemblance to any persons living or dead is purely coincidental. I'm not sure if this is the correct wording but I'm reasonably close if not.

I agree, Serling was a genius who wouldn't have wasted his time with such crap.

I wish Rod were still alive so he could read this. From what I've heard about him, He always enjoyed a good joke.

Not to mention he would have been laughed out of court over something so stupid.

"But your honor, the resemblance is uncanny. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! It should be outlawed to have been born and to resemble someone else."

Zone boy I am not even reading anything you have to say! I put my hand so all I saw was who posted right under mine and I see it was by you! You are now my enemy!

For anyone eplse I once saw an ad that had a model who looked like Jackie Kennedy Onassis and the real Jackie O took them to court over it! Resemblances are dangerous (especially since TZ and Dark Shadows were both hoirror shows) and lawsuits can be attempted!

Can you provide a link for this supposed lawsuit of Jackie Kennedy suing? Or can you provide a court citation (example: Jacquelyn Kennedy Onassis v. _________ Civil action case number#_______) I would really be interested in seeing what legal action was used to sue another for copying her likeness. Can you provide that information, as I am having trouble finding any such case in the legal forums.

I simply ask because there are examples where one can sue another for copyright infringement of a likeness, for example the estate of Marilyn Monroe has the rights to say where and when the likeness of Marilyn can be used.

What you are saying in this thread is that one man resembles another man and the simple fact they both happen to be on t.v. gives one man the right to sue the other simply for looking like him? Not at all legally possible. There is no infringement whatsoever or any civil statute that would allow him to do that. That would be like the actor who played SPIDERMAN suing Adam West for playing BATMAN because Adam is playing a superhero and wearing a costume and climbing walls.

You are making a claim that doesn't exist. Just merely trying to enlighten you on that.

I hate to burst your bubble but The Twilight Zone wasn't a horror series, It was classified as an anthology. It did have some elements of fright I suppose but nothing that I would consider horror unless of course you're petrified of gremlins on wings or 9ft tall aliens who need their own show on the Food Network.

there goes this so called "bestman" using the word "scare" or "afraid" in reference to a DS character/actor compared to anyone else.
please tell me what your problem is.
"Troll"....dang boy, first dog to bark is usually the guilty one. you must tbe the troll here. Zone and Irene are not trolls.

BTW..your topic is ridiculous. no wonder you post under a pseudonym. at least i use my initials. i'd be embarrassed if anyone knew i was making these ridiculous posts, too like you are.

I made an exception and read the troll postings (Ryan can look more like Serling than those two photos suggest if Ryan narrows his eyes). If you go to google and type in this quote from an old 1984 Time magazine article you'll see what I mean the quote is: "model Barbara Reynolds, who looks an awful lot like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis" and you'll see a link showing the trouble the admakers got into for putting in a Jacki O lookalike in their ad! The ad was a Christian Dior ad and the judge voted in Jackie O's favor!
