Why didn't George have a car?

George mentions in a first season episode that he doesn't have a car. I wonder why. He's certainly rich enough.

He lived in an apartment, he didn't have a place (I assume) to park one. And it is hectic from what I have been told to own a car in a large city like New York because there is no room to park them and if you do own one, you have to constantly put money in a parking meter.

George mentioned a limo at least once. I guess it is easier to have someone else do your driving, such as a limo driver or a taxi driver.

You are right Irene. The cast of Seinfeld never owned a car either. They always walked or caught a cab.

2.Had enough Money to Catch Cabs

3.Didn't have any Small children

Maybe they had a place to park their car in the building they lived in.

George wasn't going to pay for a car when he had access to limos and cabs.

Bob was a psychologist. Doctors usually have reserved parking at hospitals. Maybe his apartment had a parking garage.

^^^^^ Thank you. Regarding George Jefferson, it was clear from the building we see in the opening credits there was no parking garage for the tenants. You see the Jeffersons being dropped off in front of the building and the doorman is there.

Well, George Costanza did have a car. Remember that episode where some patient jumped out the window of the hospital and landed on it? There was an episode where he thought he had Jon Voight's car. But, I'm not a Seinfeld expert or anything.

Hey, I was thinking about this some more last night. Maybe George didn't need a car because he had access to the cleaning vans.

Yep, he did have his cleaning vans, which he used when he was working, this is true Gidgetgrape.

At home, he used cabs or once in a while, a limo. George loved throwing his money around to show he had money.

This is true. Ralph loved to do anything for George...so he could get that tip that he never got. It made perfect sense for George not to have a car, it wasn't like he needed one especially since he had the company vans for work related stuff.
