Default Two Crowd Explosions I didn't understand in the episode-"Crosstown Buses"

The first moment was when J.J was talking in his sleep and said-"Come on Henrietta, it's enough of me to go around"

The Crowd erupted and was stomping there geet and yelling and I was like-"HUH??

The second moment is when everyone thought Michael Ran away and when James was running out the door to go find him and Michael was right there, J.J says-"I have to hand it to you dad, you sure know where to look"

Another crowd explosion with lots of foot stomping

I mean both moments was CHUCKLE funny but not LAUGH OUT LOUD And rolling around on the Floor type of funny

Anyone Agree or Disagree?

I agree with you on both counts. I did find those funny, but I NEVER laughed out loud. I kinda wonder if something was edited out before it ever aired on CBS. Did the audience see or hear something different than we did or did the actors do something that was cut out but the audience saw it and that's what they laughed at? Because it certainly was nothing to make me do this>>>

As I read the first one, I can see J.J. doing those moves where he is hugging the pillow and supposedly sleep talking, but remember, the audience got to see all of J.J. moving and hugging that pillow while wearing those ridiculous pajamas. Maybe the sight of seeing him like that, moving and hugging the pillow on top of saying that, made it more funnier than what we saw. We saw him up close. I don't know, just trying to figure out what could have made them react that way. Hell, the audience reactions sometimes were questionable.

I always found the audience actually verbally responding to be irritating such as when you heard them say "RIGHT ON!!" and other phrases of the day.

There were times I didn't mind those phrases, but I hated it when it seemed it was stupid and/or overused. For example, in the scene where James is dealing with that rich girl Clarissa's father and he goes on to say how he won't forget where he came from and so forth. Then, you hear out loud Thelma saying, "Right on Daddy." Ok, too much right there I think.

It's one thing if a character said, but when you hear the AUDIENCE--oh please shut up! LOL

Like I said, it was overused at times, both by the audience and some characters. The audience was whacked, they laughed during serious stuff.

TVOne aired this episode last night (along with four other episodes) and I watched those moments very carefully. Too much reaction from the audience for two moments that clearly were not over the top funny. Ok, I went by memory regarding the Henrietta dream J.J. was having, he doesn't hug the pillow or do any funny movements. He just lays there and makes that comment abt "there's enough of me to go around" and this huge reaction comes from the audience. He also has a slight grin on his face, like he wanted to laugh. Still, it was not so damn funny to get that audience reaction.

As for when James and Florida were shocked by the news of Michaell supposedly having run away, that was more funnier than when James opened the door and J.J. made that comment. Also, why would James put on his hat while still wearing pajamas to go look for Michael?

Yeah, most definitely he was grinning from that reaction the crowd gave him. He even had a very slight facial reaction when the crowd gave that second loud reaction after James found Michael at the door.

I was laughing when I seen James put that silly a$$ hat on, it was like, "Dude, you are already in pajamas and a bathrobe, ready to run out to find your son, you don't need that hat."

I never understood why they wanted to do that for his character. It only makes him look older. I wonder if it had to do with Esther Rolle. By making him look a bit older, he looks like he is near Esther's age.
