The 10pm news mentioned that the price of stamps is going up again. Effective May 12th the price of stamps will be 42 cents each. I think this is the third price increase in two years.

The only redemption I get from all these increases is that my dad (so in turn my mom and I as well) get it back since dad works for the usps.
But what are ya gonna do? ****ing gas prices are ruining everything. |

Meanwhile, even though are dollars are at par (or ours was even over for a bit) the price of our 1st class stamps just rose again to 53 cents each. I think's it something like 96 cents to send to the States. Meanwhile, you'd think with the competition of the internet, couriers, fax machines, etc. they wouldn't risk doing that. Even with gas prices, pretty soon you might as well just make a trip of it and drive it there! sheesh!

With e:mail, e:cards, online banking, online bill paying, companies sending documents online, etc., I'd say that the postal service has to be taking a hit. I buy a fraction of the stamps that I used to.

I've done it for years now. As a matter of fact, basically now my entire bank is "cyber" (President's Choice Financial). I've never had a problem with it in my life. I have everything in one account and can pay bills, etc. perfectly securely. I'm really happy with it. (Plus I TOTALLY avoid any of those ridiculous bank charges and actually make some interest by the end of the month rather than being in the hole a little more each month). If more people switched, it would force banks and the post office both to lower their gouging fees. |
