Default Would say the "BEST OF FAVORITES" DVD's are a Tease?

I tried buying this type of DVD for Alice and Chico and The Man but I just feel like it would be a waste of my time because I'm so used to watching a Full Season on DVD and to look at only 6 eps is very difficult for me. I like to make every new DVD realease a "FULL DAY OF SITCOM WATCHING" not 6 eps-lol

Of course they are "teasers." Who wants to watch only 6 episodes of a series that has waaaaay more than that?

What I wonder though, do they make those BEST OF's to see how well they sell and then decide whether to release them on DVD?

When did the Cosby show release their BEST OF episodes DVD?

I've bought a few "Best of" DVDs, but only because the shows I bought weren't available in season sets at the time and I really wanted to see those shows. Plus they're much cheaper than season sets and 6 episodes of a show is still better than none. Those are really the only good things about "best of" sets.

They are teasers though. Everytime I finished one of those "best of" dvd's I was left wanting a lot more. I'd take a season set over a "best of" anyday.

Best of sets have their advantages. Of course I'd prefer season sets of shows I want over best of's, but what in cases where I have no intention of buying a season set? Such was the case for me with The Electric Company, Chico & The Man & F Troop. Those were shows I wanted to see again and couldn't on TV or anywhere. A few eps was all I wanted and the sets were cheap so I figured why not? F Troop definitely was used to test the waters for season sets. Appaprently Chico & The Man didn't do so well because we have yet to see season sets.

You may be right about that, Best of DVD's maybe for people who want to sample but not really for the fans of the show.

They are teasers, of course. They want the customers to get a glimpse of what they could buy. Either that, or it's WB's only laziness of not taking the time to get a whole season put together.

Besides that, I still own the Drew Carey: Best of, Step by Step: Best of, and Alice: Best of. I know it's only 6 episodes of each, but all 3 only cost me $20, and I do watch them quite often.

Ok, that's right. That was STUPID!!!! Why release a BEST OF? And do people really want a BEST OF when it is a show that is obviously going to be released season by season eventually?

I mean, I can see buying the BEST OF ALICE only because it seems like the series won't be released. That would be better than nothing. That would be for someone who doesn't have anyone to trade with or buy from someone. Or for someone who doesn't have a VCR/DVD recorder with the show airing right now.

Still, I wonder if the BEST OF's are done to "test" the sales and see if it is worth putting out on DVD? The Cosby Show BEST OF doesn't make sense.

I think it's a good idea for those on a limited budget. And not everyone has
a burning desire to own every single episode of a favorite show.
