Default Does your hair style great when you are in a hurry but when you style

your hair for a special day/night or some special occasion, you seem to have a bad hair day??? Or is it just me? Today I styled my hair real quick for my DMV picture that I will be taking today and it came out looking great. Damn! I wish it could be this way ALL THE TIME when I am taking my time with it and want it to look good for a special occasion.

I seem to have the same problem. I've just gotten to the point that I don't care anymore, lol!

I pretty much do my hair straight all the time because I can't get it to do anything else!

Yes, that always happens to me. I have no idea why, but my theory is since the more you put your hands in your hair, the more oil you will be transporting to your hair, making it all weird looking. So i try to keep my hands out my hair when i really want it to look good, and of course, do it in a hurry lol. That seems to work for me anyway.

It's almost like trying harder to make it look great is the worst thing you can do.

Today I didn't even put any heat styling product in my hair, I just hurried up and blow dried my hair and smoothed it out with the hair straightener. I did a quick curl on the sides and VOILA! It looked great. I sometimes wonder if the hair products make it worse.

I discovered that I can make my hair spiky and not do a thing to it. When I have wet hair, I comb it forward and once I have all hairs in place, I run my hand through the top of my hair to mess it up, and it dries that way. I really like it! Thing is, I have naturally wavy/curly hair... so it won't be long before I have curly/spiky hair, and that's gonna look funny.

I really like my hair the day after I've showered - it's spiky the way I want it, and I don't need to do anything else to it too at that time.

(here's a picture for reference - not the best example, cuz I'd used my hairdryer prior to this picture. It looks better when I let it airdry)

But if I try to put in gel... Even just the tiniest bit... Ugh. Looks like total crap! Argh! I want to maintain the spikiness... but I dunno how...

My hair never looks good no matter what I do to it. Most days it's just a crapshoot with me. It's funny because all the people I know who do hair always say they can make it look good or that they have just the right product for it, but I know what will happen! About ten minutes into it I'll hear "huh..." I always have to laugh inside while I say "oh well, nice try" to them. There is no hair product that does what it's supposed to do on my hair...generally I have bad frizzies and ALL products, even those expensive and premium ones that are supposed to tame frizz make it worse. Hair straighteners or flatirons will work for about 20 minutes until right before your eyes it rises right back into frizzies. I just gave up a few years ago. I'm still waiting for that "every 7 years your hair changes" thing. It's been about 10 years.

I don't try to style my hair, I wash it and put it back into a ponytail. My hair is very curly and long so I don't try to fuss with it. If I do style it myself, I just flat iron it and that's it. If I want it to look great for something, then I have my mom come over and do my hair for me

Must be nice. j/k

That's what happens with people who see my nails. I do my own nails and then they want me to do their nails for them when special occasions come up for them.

My daughters and I have straight hair, but over the years, I have had to use a flat iron to keep it smooth. My eldest daughter always wants me to smooth out her hair. I guess it's a mommy thing huh?

True. It feels so good when someone else does my hair, the soft way they touch your hair and all, damn, it can be relaxing.

Haha, I half way blow dried my hair today and it looks okay, but I used an anti frizz shampoo, so maybe that's why it's not poofing up right now.
