Default Alice's UFO

Don't know the real title, but this episode IIRC was the one CBS aired right before the big bloated M*A*S*H* finale (that to this day still holds the all time ratings record). Alice scored its highest ratings in quite awhile because it was the leadout. It did something like a 28.4 (which even then was an awesome Nielsen rating). Of course watching the episode now, you wonder, were people that LAZY to turn the channel? LOL

I guess they were. OR, they had their VCR's (lucky bastards) set to record the finale and didn't want to take any chances.

That was a lame episode. The show was on a downslide that season but the episode with Joel Grey was very good. Linda Lavin must had enjoyed because she was heavily featured in that episode. She showed a lot of energy in that episode. She sure got great legs.

Fun Fact-"there was also a similar episode on the spinoff-"FLO" about seeing something from outerspace

I did enjoy the Joel Grey two parter, even though I thought it was kinda silly to be a two parter LOL. "Two Tootsies from Tucson" and "Ramona from Arizona" had me rolling!

Default Joel's episode

Joel Grey could of easily paid Mel off and become producer/star of the show. It probably cost him more to take a plane back to Arizona on a whim.

I also never realized how silly the later season episodes became. How could the whole group learn the NY dance moves when Mel odered Vera and Jolene to be in the show after Joel Grey left!

I also noticed that Linda breaks character a lot and starts to laugh out loud. Celia weston to me is a great actress. She had me laughing many times when she shakes her face head and says something sarcastic.

I always loved "Alice" including the Jolene years....not at all during the Belle year. Looking forward to Flo. I hope ION keeps the show on!

I wouldn't count on ION keeping "Alice" to get back to the Flo seasons. All bets are being hedged that once Alice runs through its final season--ION will tell Mel's Diner to close up shop and it will then put on some other gadawful sitcom no one wants to see in its place!

yeah, especially with all the new shows I keep seeing ION will be showing. Unless they cut out some of the infomercial time, something has to give, and I'm sure Alice will be one of them that leaves eventually
For example, Baywatch starts March 3rd at 10pm. Joey and Chandler (from Friends) would be happy with this I bet

The show was getting quite over the top in the 7th season. The show by then ran its course but it managed, somehow, to make through two more seasons. If you noticed the final season they did not make as many episodes because they clearly ran out of ideas and Linda Lavin's heart wasn't in the show as much. From the 7th season on it seemed as though Linda was going through the motions of the show.

The best seasons were from seasons 1, a little on the weak side, through 5. Season 6 you can see the beginning of the show going down.
