Default Hayden Christensen Takes Shot at 'Star Wars' Movies

Hayden Christensen will not take part in any future Star Wars movies - because the sci-fi franchise stifled his creativity. The Jumper star played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the Star Wars prequel trilogy - but he has vowed never again to work with director George Lucas on big budget sci-fi projects.

He tells New York Daily News, "It wasn't necessarily anything you could feel good about creatively. It's not why you become an actor, to do stuff like that."

Oh give me a break. If it wasn't for SW nobody would know who this clown is. I haven't seen him in anything since. Heck most people didn't think he was that great in the movies anyway. And I don't think their was going to be be anymore SW movies anyway. The guy sounds like an ungrateful brat.

I understand a bit. Yes, the Star Wars movies are massively successful but outside of Harrison Ford and Ewan McGregor (and they both had careers pre-SW), most of the main SW actors get typecast and wind up with straight to video careers (Mark Hamill, let's not even talk about the kid who was Anakin in episode 1). I can understand Hayden's frustration, but he's finally getting the last laugh with Jumper doing well, but it took him three years after Sith to even get another role, if that says anything.

what is this guy on about? let's face it, if it wasn't for star wars, we wouldn't know who hayden is and secondly, it catipulted him into hollywood status. he should stop acting like a baby by throwing his toys out of the pram and get on with his career and life, instead of bitching and whining

exactly...I don't hear Natalie Portman complaining. The fact is he isn't that great of an actor and if their were any more SW movies then I'm sure the voice of James Earl Jones would be Darth Vader. lol He knew what he was getting into when he agreed to be in SW. He sounds like some of these tv stars that are so embarrassed by the show that made them a star to begin with.

besides, staring in the star wars movies is nothing to be ashamed. it is one of the most successful movie francises in history, raking in millions of $ and one of the most famous worldwide. hayden should be thanking his lucky stars he got his big break in these movies. judging by his comments, he sounds rather immature

okay, I'll be the first to finally say it. Star Wars is overrated!!!!

Yes, they're good but they aren't worthy of the worship they get, being watched 3000 times and have every single frame be overanalyzed. The fans take it too far, they're not THAT great of movies, especially the last three.

I can understand why Hayden DOES NOT want to become the next Mark Hamill or Jake Lloyd. They're both typecast for life and Mark is stuck in z-movies, and Jake was expected to be the next Macauley Culkin but instead did practically nothing afterwards.

The films have lasted for over thirty years and are as great today as they ever were. I respect your opinion but fans and even critics agree that the original movies were some of the best ever made. The prequels were not as good except the last one. One of the reason is probably the actors. Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen are both overrated. Loyd is a terrible actor. The only other movie of his I ever saw was Jingle All The Way and Arnold stole that movie. It's hard to believe anyone would think he'd be another Macauley Culkin. Hayden was very wooden through most of Attack of The Clones. He was better in the final one though. The fact is he knew what SW was when he decided to accept the role. If it wasn't for SW would anybody even know who this guy was? I have more sympathy with Mark Hamill because he didn't know the phenomenon it was going to be. It seems like Hayden was okay as long as he was the new guy in town but now that it's over it's okay to trash George Lucas and all Star Wars for that. It isn't their fault. It seems like Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor are doing okay...of course they're better actors. Their was really no reason for him to say anything anyway because their isn't going to be anymore SW movies and if their were he sure wouldn't be in it anyway. All it does is upset the few fans he has. As for the original series, their was no doubt in my mind then that Harrison Ford was going to be a star after seeing him in that movie. He just stole it from Mark Hamill. I like Mark though and I've never seen him trash the movie that made him famous. It's too bad Hayden couldn't learn something from him.

I'm personally not a Star Wars fan, but I have heard from fans that they did not enjoy him in the films, and I'm pretty sure he's even won Razzies for them. But in general, I do enjoy him as an actor. I thought he was great in both Life as a House and Shattered Glass. I hope he has some more success in the future.

Ewan and Natalie both had careers going for them before Episode 1 though. Harrison probably saved his career by taking Indiana Jones and Blade Runner before Return Of The Jedi finished the original franchise. Mark and Carrie weren't quite so lucky, even tho Carrie did do fine as the "neurotic best friend" typecast (which she even poked fun at when she guested on Ellen as herself a number of years back). You would think that after starring in three of the biggest movies in history, that Mark Hamill would've had his pick of any script possible (I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio sat around and rested on his laurels for several years after Titanic, yet was able to get the pick of any script he wanted when he decided he wanted to work again), yet instead people only see Luke Skywalker and he's been relegated to low-budget straight to video fare for the past 20 years. I can understand why Hayden doesn't want to go the way of Mark, he's still young, he's still handsome, he can still improve as an actor. He'd rather have Anakin Skywalker be one of his characters and not be typecast as Anakin until the day he dies. Hell, it took him until now to get Jumper since everyone thinks of him from SW and nothing more, so it took 3 years after Sith to get a starring role in a movie.

Carrie was great in the Burbs..one of my favorite movies. I can understand his frustration. I just don't think it serves any purpose to trash the franchise now. It doesn't do any good. I like Mark. I have no idea why he didn't become a big star other than SW. He had the looks and he was very popular in the late 70's. I don't know why some people are typecast and some aren't. It's just the way it goes I guess. It happens on tv all the time too.

I think Mark's accident after Star Wars hindered his career. His face was completely changed after that accident, and I think he lost that boyish look he had in the first movie.

I think Hamill has had a pretty good career. He didn't make a bajillion dollars like Harrisom Ford, but he is now a God in the cartoon voiceover community. Plus he's been in countless plays, written comic books; he's a busy guy.
