Wink So, I Went With My Son On His Date

My son's been talking to this girl on the internet, she lives in our town but goes to a different school, so they've never met. Saturday, they decided to meet at the Mall & go see a movie. The girls parents wanted to meet us first, so we met at Borders Book Store and the mom asked if I'd be close by. And I jokingly said I could go to the movie with them and she said "oh good, I was worried about leaving her here". So I ended up seeing Over Her Dead Body with the teens. I didn't sit with them though, my son insisted that I sit down near the front

!! When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was another "Janice Johnston Scenario"!!

There's got to be a sitcom somewhere that covered this though - folks - start the list!

Im sure your son would have prefered to be dead than go on a date with Mom!

It was a little awkward, I really wasn't planning on staying at the Mall & watching a movie with them.

You should have seen his expression when he realized I was going with them.

Yeah, they seemed too. She giggled a lot. She's 15 & my son's 16. After the movie I went back to Borders Bookstore and they went to play games at the Arcade. I had to wait about an hour for them to get through with their date. I sure hope I don't have to go on anymore teen dates.

That's a real cute story. Definitely out of a sitcom.

So True! They'd talked on the phone quite a bit and sent each other pictures, but still they'd never met in person before saturday.

Some of the things that come up with my husband & son would definitely fit in a sitcom episode.

Good job!!!!! You did the right thing. Although your son was awkward abt it, he will look back some day and appreciate what you did.

does your son drive, or need your transportation? You said 16, since I don't think many 16 year olds with a license would agree to take their mom on a date with them, if anything, they'd be mortified of the idea
