Default Question about a background person on the show

I got a question about a person who was on like 3 or 4 episodes.

There is a guy with a mustache, in one episode he played a Forest Ranger, when Will and a girl named Lisa he dated(not the one he was going to marry) Will was with her father and they get lost in the woods and they tried to find them.

Then in another episode he played a perimedic(spelling) when Uncle Phil ad a heart attack, then in a 3 episode he played a fire fighter who was called to the house when Will burnt the kitch trying to make Flamebay(spelling), they guy says blacks folks don't do flamebay and laughs then he tell the rest of the firemen what Will did.

The question is why did they make this person have a different job each time he appeared on the show?

Also did this guy ever play on any other tv shows?

A lot of actors are reused as different characters on the same show. Two other examples on "Fresh Prince" would be Queen Latifah and Nia Long, who both played two different roles on the show.

Richard Roundtree appeared twice in the show. As Dr. Mumford in the first season and as Rev. Gordon Sims in the final season.

Sherman Hemsley appeared as Judge Carl Robertson and George Jefferson.

Nina Long appeared as Will's girlfriend Mimi Mumford in a Season 2 episode and then of course in Seasons 4 and 5 as Will's long-time girlfriend and eventual fiancee who he did not marry. Lisa Wilkes was her name and I did not care for episodes that much. I did like it when John Amos came on to play her dad though. He gave her character a purpose!

But I thought Nia Long didn't play Mimi Mumford, but Claudia Prescott?

You're right. It was Claudia Prescott. Mimi Mumford was in Season 1. I can't imagine why I forgot that.

Well, it's not easy keeping track of all of Will's girls during all those years, so I forgive you.

For those who don't remember, Claudia Prescott was the girl, that Will went to a dance with, when he really wanted to go with DeeDee, a "fat" girl played by Queen Latifah.
