I've had a bag of potato chips in the pantry since before December(it says best by Dec 15). I've been snacking on them. They taste fine. How can they not be stale after two months, open? It's kinda freaking me out...

That's strange. If it was summer, I'm sure the chips would be green by now. I'm guessing your pantry is sort of cool in temperature. When did you open them? If you just opened them, it makes it less strange. It's only February.

Food is interesting like that.

I once had a tub of unopened yogurt in the fridge that I didn't open for 3 months. I think it was supposed to expire around November of 2003, and I finally got around to finishing it off in February of 2004. It was perfectly fine!

I opened them in December. And I didn't even seal them properly.

Wow you're courageous. I don't mess around with dairy products.

I have a friend that manages a grocery store and he said that many products have expiration dates that leave some room before they actually think it will go bad. There's also differences between expiration dates and "sell by," "use before," and "best before," dates.
Maybe the date on your chips was a "sell by" or "best before" date. Some chips seem to hold up better than others too. What brand was it, just out of curiousity?

Max, it's obvious to me that your pantry is posessed by some kind of otherworldly evil force.

I suggest you contact your local exorcist or shaman. If they are not available, a necromancer will work in a pinch.

I gotta fess up man, I ate that bag of chips back in December and I just got around to replacing it a couple of days ago.

...don't eat any of your yogurt though.

They were Lays. The funny thing is, every time I've had fresh potato chips before they always go stale in only a few days, if they aren't already stale when I buy them. It's certainly unusual for them to last two months.
