CBS DVD's - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I think there are a few episodes from each season that are cut, I suspect even the first season has some cut episodes. CBS edited out scenes from the episodes that contain music, what's generally missing are the parts where Gomer sings a song. If CBS had left all the episodes intact for the DVD, I assume they would have had to pay royalties to whoever has the rights to the songs, thus the reason for the edits. I think it's all a bunch of nonsense. This was a CBS show, CBS issues the DVD's, so don't they have rights to the entire content of the episodes, including any music? This is all a pile of legal BS, and the consumer has to suffer because of it. As Gomer would say- Shame, shame, shame.

yea; it is a shame. But the problem is, most people who hold the rights to the songs charge more for their inclusion; that most DVD companies can afford. And theirs also a couple other reasons why companys have to cut them out. I forget what they are; but there's a post in "THE ODD COUPLE" forum that lists them.

Yep, I saw the thread on the Odd Couple board. I think the whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. I like Gomer Pyle so I buy the DVD's, but I purchase them under protest.
