Default Live audience-who do the actors go when.....

I have always wondered, where do the actors go when they leave the acting scene in front of a live audience-has anyone or know anyone that has seen a live episode at the studio-

No, it was live audience! There's a rumor that frat boys in the audience of Steve's first ep. were chanting "Urkel"!

they usually stand outside the "set", waiting for their cue......in All in the Family, there was a platform at the top of the stairs where Carol O'Conno would stand when he was supposed to be in the bathroom or where anyone stood who was supposed to be in the bedrooms upstairs (Which were really on a ground stage like the main livingroom "set").

I went to a taping once and they usually run off into make up or change clothes or step outside for a smoke.

Yes...just because an episode here and there was filmed off set doesn't mean they all were.

FM was shot in front of a live audience. And as Brian and Mikey above stated, that is what the actors do, they go aside to make-up or just step out of view and have a break.

OK! Yeah, cause first I didnt know there was live audience. And I have heard people cough, so I wondered "Why do they add coughs in the laughs". Now I know. What about when they were outside. Like when they droove by car and stuff like that.

Of course not. Any scenes shot outdoors were not shot with an audience. That is when a laugh track comes in.

I guess they switched between live audience and pre-taping.
