Default Nicolas Cage suing Kathleen Turner over autobiography

Actor Nicolas Cage is suing actress Kathleen Turner over allegations made in her autobiography about his behaviour on a film set.

A "defamation, libel and slander" case had been issued at London's High Court, a courts spokesman said.

It relates to claims made in her book, Send Yourself Roses, over Mr Cage's behaviour when the pair co-starred in 1986 comedy Peggy Sue Got Married.

Ms Turner has yet to respond to the case, the spokesman added.

A spokesman for Mr Cage in Los Angeles said the action followed "false allegations that appear in a forthcoming autobiography", the Daily Telegraph reported.

"As legal proceedings have been commenced, it would be inappropriate to comment further," the spokesman added.

Peggy Sue Got Married, directed by Mr Cage's uncle Francis Ford Coppola, earned an Oscar nomination for Ms Turner, whose autobiography is released in the UK and the US this week.

In the film, Ms Turner played 43-year-old housewife Peggy Sue, who faints at a high school reunion and wakes up back in school.

Mr Cage played her high school boyfriend.

Default Kathleen Turner Apologizes To Nicolas Cage

Kathleen Turner has apologized to Nicolas Cage for "causing distress" by accusing the actor of drink-driving and theft in her new autobiography. Cage began libel proceedings against his Peggy Sue Got Married co-star in London's High Court last week after claiming her new book Send Yourself Roses was full of false claims about him.

In the book, Turner alleges Cage went to great lengths to disobey his director uncle Francis Ford Coppola on the set of their 1986 movie, adding he found himself in trouble with police while filming.

But the 53-year-old actress insists she had no intention for the contents of her book to upset Cage, or anybody else, and is deeply sorry for any hurt caused.

She says, "I guess what I can say is I'm truly sorry if I caused distress or harm, because one thing is for sure - I never, ever intended to do that. This is what I remember, these are my thoughts and (they were) certainly not intended to damage anyone else."

Nice dodge by Turner on the Cage question. Before she even mentioned steroids, I was thinking that she looked bloated by medication. My mother had RA, and there were times she got a bloated face.

This is a bit offtop, but I really have to laugh. I was just reading a book about an 1840's crime in NYC (The Beautiful Cigar Girl, by Daniel Stashower) and was absolutely amazed at the invective people at that time and place hurled at each other in print. I imagine 10% of one day's run if printed today would be enough to feed just about every NY law firm for years.

I don't see why Cage even cares. In 2008, he still commands top dollar for movies and is still an A-lister. Kathleen Turner, OTOH, was one of the biggest actresses of the 80's, but except for a memorable performance as Chandler's "Dad" on Friends, hasn't really been in a movie of note since Serial Mom in 1994.

She said he was driving drunk, stole a dog and got arrested. He cares about his reputation. I know I'd fight for mine.

Cage was quoted as saying that he was accused of crimes and that bothers him because he has young fans too and he doesn't want them to think bad of him for crimes he never committed. He said there is no mug shot of him to be found BECAUSE NONE EXIST. Kudos to Cage for not taking this lying down.

Nicolas Cage is wasting his time suing Kathleen about that. He needs to ignore what she said about him and stop crying. Kathleen and these other celebrities who write books telling their personal business need to get a life because it's stupid of them to tell the public their personal business.
