Superstar Roy Rogers guest starring on WW but afraid of fellow Dark Shadows guest? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Roy Rogers (married of course to Dale Evans)actually did an ep on WW as a rancher who was getting his cattle stolen. Wonder Woman and Steve come to investigate. The cattle theft ring is organized by a character played by Anthony George (Burke Devlin #2 on Dark Shadows). There is one single scene in the ep where George and Rogers confront aka meet! Think George frightened Rogers as Conrad Bain (also of Dark Shadows) frightened Maclean Stevenson?

What makes you think that Roy Rogers was afraid of Anthony George and MacLean Stevenson afraid of Conrad Bain? Is it just because they were both on Dark Shadows? If that's the case then I guess it's safe to say that Richard Dean Anderson was scared of Dana Elcar who was also on Dark Shadows. If these actors were as afraid as you claim then they had no business in front of a camera.

Charles, this poster has other threads stating actors being "afraid" etc. and mentioning Dark Shadows, McLean Stevenson, etc. I have no idea what he means by all that.

Well, it was stated on other Mash discussion boards that Maclean Stevenson was terrified of Conrad Bain. And Alan Alda testified on a talk show out of Boston, MA called Good Day that he and the whole 1981 Mash cast were all deathly afraid of a certain actor who guested on Mash named Michael Maguire, Maguire had been on Dark Shadows! I have wondered if Elcar frightened Anderson on MacGyver (see the MacGyver board). In the movie Dracula dead and Loving It (starring Leslie Nielson) an actress named Amy Yasbeck was apparently scared to no end by newer DS actress Lysette Anthony (who was also in DDALI) as a result despite funny guys Nielson, Mel Brooks, and Harvey Korman all with Yasbeck in a scene she was too afraid to totally lie down in a coffin as she felt some superstition towards it (Yasbeck says this on the Dracula Dead and Loving It dvd commentary). Anthony had probably scared her! Back to Rogers, George and Wonder Woman. If Rogers found out that George had been on a vampire soap maybe he found George a very creepy guy (maybe Dale Evans was on the set and begged her husband to protect her from that "monstrous actor Anthony George" and some fear trickled over into Rogers himself). You see you need a very creepy air to do a show like Dark Shadows (old or newer version).

^^^your post is so confusing. Not only that, it is common for actors/actresses to be fearful of lying in a coffin for a scene. Who the heck wants to lie in a coffin? I don't blame their fear, that is just too eerie to think abt. Most of your post is just assumption on your part.

Conrad Bain played an Innkeeper on Dark Shadows and was only in 4 episodes out of nearly 1200 or so produced. His character wasn't menacing so why would someone like McLean Stevenson be afraid of him?

If an actor's work is so convincing that the audience becomes afraid of him then he's done his job. If his fellow actors become afraid of him then he deserves any award that can be bestowed upon him because he's done his job too well.

Ok but I still find it hard to believe that McLean Stevenson would be afraid of him simply for appearing on Dark Shadows.

What's common about it? A coffin is only wood and or metal. And I just explained three extremely funny guys (Korman, Brooks, and Nielson) were all on the set with her----she had no reason to be scared. In fact when she made the commentary of Dracula Dead and Loving It she made it with a few other people and one of them was confused why she was afraid to totally lay in the coffin. You obviously just like DS actors and do not wish to find them the scarey bad aired folks they have to be.

PS If you still illogically think that just laying in a coffin on a set is so bad why don't you think Frid terrible for being able to lay totally in one or Kathryn Leigh Scott bad for being able to play such a morbid, eerie undead like Josette risen from the grave! Horror actors are very, very scarey people! The fact that this lady Yasbeck was so ill at ease despite, nice funny guys like Korman being around shows the influence of the only horror-type on the set of Dracula Dead and Loving It-- new DS's Lysette Anthony!

I once dated a girl whom I found out worked in a funeral parlor. That was creepy for me to think she with her punk hairdo and love of rock music could
be around dead for so long! well, I guess when Stevenson found out that Bain could play it so creepy and was part of that dreadful world of DS it gave him bad shakes! He began to probably to think was Bain a man of morbid tastes. Perhaps Bain showed Stevenson how scarey the former could act and that also made Stevenson ill at ease!
