Default William Shatner: "I Haven't Watched 'Star Trek''

Former Star Trek star William Shatner has not seen the TV show which made him famous. The 76-year-old refuses to watch himself onscreen because he believes "(he) sucks" at acting in the popular sci-fi series.

He says, "I never watched Star Trek and I have not even seen any of the Star Trek movies. I don't watch them myself. When I direct and have to look at filmed scenes of myself, I suck." And Shatner regrets failing to lift any memorabilia from his days on set - as the costumes and props are now worth a lot of money.

He adds, "I've kept nothing. Given the choice at the time of having a Star Trek suit or a designer suit, I'd have taken a suit. I should have known better."

Question

Al Lewis was the same way, He refused to watch himself on screen including The Munsters which he stated in an interview several years ago that he had never seen a single episode of.

I'm not sure I believe Bill in regards to this because in the Introduction to his 1993 book Star Trek Memories, he clearly states that he went back and watched all the episodes of the series before writing the book. Also, in the Introduction to her book on the making of Star Trek V, daughter Lisabeth Shatner recalls a story in which invloves her parents watching the episode "Arena". In his autobiogrpaphy, James Doohan writes about how he and Shatner fell asleep during the premiere of Star Trek-The Motion Picture. So for Bill to have fallen asleep during the film, he had to have been watching it in the first place.

Thank you for all the support for the TV show and movies that made you famous, BILL. You are such a stand up guy.

I wonder if Nimoy ever watches the shows, or movies?

I don't know why that's so surprising. A lot of actors and actresses have said they've never watched anything they've been in because they hate watching themselves onscreen.
