February 8, 2008 -- MEET the new pop-and-roll royalty.

Frances Bean Cobain, the 15-year-old daughter of erratic rocker and actress Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain, and Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, the 11-year-old offspring of Madonna and Carlos Leon, have moved out of the shadows of their notorious parents and into the spotlight with a fashion tent full of self-confidence and rave reviews.

"They come from two of the most diverse yet fashion-crazy people that have ever been spawned," says Sasha Charnin Morrison, Us Weekly's fashion director. "Madonna with her unbelievable transformation and the iconic star that she is, and Courtney with her separate look - it's pretty amazing. If you're around that constantly, it's in your blood to become a best-dressed kid."

In the March issue of Harper's Bazaar, Frances Bean shows off her Cobain-blue eyes and love for Broadway musicals (she's been in 20) and designer duds - wearing elegant fashions from the likes of Dior by John Galliano, Gucci and Zac Posen to transform herself into Evita and Rizzo from "Grease."

There's nothing grunge about her, except for her recently pierced bejeweled nose.

"She's very frank," says Laura Brown, who interviewed Frances Bean for HB, adding that the teenager shares a certain outspokenness and fearlessness with her mother.

Lourdes, a k a Lola, may be as much as of a material girl as her mom. At the star-studded Gucci gala at the United Nations on Wednesday, Madonna and child walked the red carpet, with Lourdes looking like the ex-boy toy's Mini Me. Lourdes, in a black satin Gucci dress with nail polish to match, struck a model stance as she posed for cameras.

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree," says Morrison. "They both have a love of fashion and appreciation for it. They are aware of what their style is and what works with them."

Frances Bean had favorite designers by the time she was in seventh grade.

"I expected a shy, timid girl, and I couldn't be more surprised," says Brown. "She talks a mile a minute and is very confident. She loves high heels and Prada shoes. She's going to find her style and be a real knockout."

Lourdes, who has her own stylist, is working on her look as well - and sometimes she goes too far for her controversial mom.

A year ago, the boundary-breaking star complained about Lourdes' fashion choices, including too-tight jeans, to British Elle.

"I have a go at her and say, 'Can't you wear something else? You have a closet full of clothes and you wear the same pants every day,'" Madonna said. "'And please wear a belt because I don't want to see your butt crack when you bend over.'"

Morrison, however, thinks Lourdes dresses age-appropriately: "There's nothing too revealing - it's all very refined and sweet and cute."

And Lourdes did add a youthful LOVE necklace to go with her Gucci.

"It's all very encouraging," says CosmoGIRL! Editor-in-Chief Susan Schulz. "These days you see a lot of girls doing things that are not so savory. Granted, these girls are pretty young to start, but I feel like they have put a really good foot forward. They look put together and seem very poised for their age. Maybe these two will be fun to watch and you won't cringe every time they step out."

it's scary that Lourdes is already so tall and old. I remember when the news first broke that Madonna was pregnant

Francis Bean is almost as tall as Courtney!

I seen the entertainment segment on my local news last night and Lourdes is looking so beautiful and charming. She looks just like her mom when her mom had dark hair and those famous eyebrows. Spitting image.

Too bad Courtney Love is hooked on plastic surgery. She made some awful choices. She was looking great several years ago...what happened?
