Default What Was Your Favorite Celebrity Guest Appearance On I Love Lucy?

My answer might be a bit bias since I am also a huge SUPERMAN fan but the episode where George Reeves appears as SUPERMAN for Little Ricky's party. I also loved the scene where Lucy dresses up as SUPERMAN and goes on the landing when the "real" SUPERMAN saves her.

So, what was your favorite guest appearance on ILL?

There's a few but John Wayne and Harpo Marx come to mind first. I thought they were hilarious!

I would have to say "Lucy and Superman." I especially liked George Reeves'
last line (to Desi): "Wait a minute! Do you mean to tell me that you've been
married to this woman for fifteen years?! And they call ME Superman!"

Some were a riot, like Bill Holden nose on fire, Tennesse Ernie's three, John Wayne's two, Bob Hope's, Cornel, Harpo, but definitely not Rock Hudson's. Widmark's not so much either.

Ok, the hours, well, Tallulah and Thomas were the very best, the worst was summer vacation with Lupino and Duff, Lucy had some great moments with Skelton and even Paul Douglas. Frenando not so much for me, Cummings was great, Kovacks wasted, Betty Grable and James were a hoot. Berle was ok, Sothern and Romero and Valle very good.

Tallulah Bankhead and Danny Thomas are my choices for the hour shows. For the 1/2 hour shows, so many choices .... Bill Holden, Ernie Ford, John Wayne. How about Frank Sinatra? Sure, the movie clip was edited out from all prints after the initial broadcast of "Lucy and the Dummy," but can I still name him??? hahaha!

If so than I add Sinatra to the TOP of my list . Would have been great if he actually did make an appearance on ILL or The Honeymooners (since he was good friends with Jackie).

When the ILL episode called "Lucy and the Dummy" aired in 1955 it came up a few minutes short in running time. Desi called Samuel Goldwyn and asked for footage from his latest film to preview on the show to fill time. From this conversation (and according to some books, from a secretary's call back to Desilu because Goldwyn and Arnaz didn't speak English clearly and Goldwyn didn't know what he agreed to!) came a clip of Frank Sinatra from the upcoming Guys and Dolls movie. Sinatra didn't know about the use of the clip and the day after the show aired people were saying to him "We saw you on I Love Lucy last night!" I don't have an original network airing of this episode - yet! - but the restored version on DVD has the introduction to the clip included, though the clip from the film is missing. (Due to license, I'm sure.) So in this respect, Frank Sinatra appeared on I Love Lucy.

In reality I know he actually didn't appear within the context of the show, but still .... would that count as a guest appearance????
