Default Were Mark and Becky engaged?

I find it hard to believe that Mark and Becky just decided the day they married just to get up, run off to Minnesota and elope when they did.

Becky had made a comment in an earlier episode about how she would just marry Mark since she couldn't go to college. It sounded like a wisecrack (smart-mouthed little trollop, I never would have gotten away with it in my home, but I'm getting off topic), but I'm wondering if she and Mark hadn't gotten engaged at that point and not told anyone.

Becky's wedding ring also looked like a genuine diamond or gem, not something Mark could have just ran to a jewelry store and bought right away. What do you think?

Nope. You don't need to be engaged to get married or have thoughts of eloping. Their relationship was based on their love and Becky did say to Mark "I Love You".

I wasn't engaged when I married my husband. We knew we loved each other and we just did it. It happens all the time. Usually engagements are the standard when you are telling the world you love each other and you are planning a big wedding in a year or two. Becky didn't care abt a wedding. Becky wanted to marry Mark so she could be with him. She was afraid of losing him if he had gone off out of state to work.

As for wedding rings, you can buy something pretty cheap (not cheap-looking mind you) at a lot of stores, not just jewelry stores. Department stores have them. You can even buy them at pawn shops.

I didn't mean that one had to be engaged to get married. It just seemed to me to be a stretch that Mark and Becky would just suddenly decide to marry the day that Becky told off Dan.

Now if Becky would have left Mark, here's an episode idea. . . . . D. J. getting caught trying to pawn Becky's old wedding ring!

I for one wasn't really suprised that Becky ran off and married Mark. She was always a rebel, smart-mouthed little bitch! I wouldn't get away with the lip she did as a kid, my dad would have beat my ass to a bloody pulp! I guess you can tell by now that I didn't like Becky..LOL! But, I have to agree with the other statement, she was afraid of losing him so it made sense and didn't come as a shock to me.

In actuality, it made perfect sense (in Becky's mind) and to us the viewers that she did that, especially after her fight with Dan. She was at her lowest and feeling she was going to lose Mark, afterall she had changed her mind and was telling her parents that she was going to let Mark go out of state for work. Out of desperation, Becky felt in her heart of hearts that by marrying him, she could leave her family and be with the guy she loved. She was afterall, of age where she could marry him without her parent's permission. I was not at all shocked when she married Mark.
