Exclamation Update on Jack Lutter!

Well a lot of us have been very curious whatever became of the bigamist profiled on the Pre-Stack Specials. I emailed the King County Sherriff's Department a few weeks ago in hope of some information. They replied back today and this is what they said:

"His real name is John Lutter. He was arrested at LAX in late November, 2000 and extradited back to Seattle . He was released from jail in January 2001. It appears the bigamy charges were dropped when the victim(s) could not be found.

Case closed.

Hope this helps."

Hmm, doesn't ring a bell... Was this on one of your volumes?

Yes, volume 10. He was the airline pilot who it was found out had numerous wives and common law wives. Apparently he had them living all along his airline route but his scheme came to light when the airlines promoted him and changed his route and all the women in his life began comparing notes. Its too bad he never had to pay for his crimes.

Thank you CD, an amazing update indeed. By the way, I found the following website dedicated to 2 of the most memorable cases of Special 3 (the second and last UM episode hosted by Karl Malden): Jack Lutter and Glenn Consagra....

http://www.freewebs.com/umupdates/

P.S. I am sure that somewhere I have read or heard before that the responsible of the website is a poster of this forum: either "Todd Mcafee" or "Kevin Paulsen", two of the most informed contributors, in my opinion , but I can´t remember which one.

Yes I know whose page it is. He is a veteran poster and I'll let him reveal himself if he wishes....

Actually we don't have a Todd McAfee who is a poster but I think I know who you're talking about. As far as "Kevin Poulson" I assume that means Dark Dante. You think he's one of the most informed posters....LOL! (Just kidding but he had that coming...)

Did UM ever air an update to the Todd McAfee segment? I believe the case was solved.

I did want to mention that i've been working off my buttinski lately looking for this segment, e-mailing people who don't post here left and right. No luck yet, but maybe a few points for effort?... I'll keep plugging away at it.

^ Very interestng about Jack (John) Lutter. I'm interested in that they could not find any of the victims as several of them were interviewed for UM. Maybe they died, moved away who knows? - At least one of them (Caroline?) sounded like she never wanted to prosecute Lutter to begin with and was still in love with him.

Crystaldawn, its time to change you avatar..."you" look like you are on drugs

I believe I have talked to the guy who made that page. He is pretty cool and really knows his UM.

Yeah, I thought this was odd about not finding the victims. I wonder if maybe some of them had just moved on and didn't want to rehash all those bad feelings. He married one if his wives in 1980. That arrest was 20 years after the fact. 20 years is a long time.

I also wonder how he was arrested. I doubt someone who saw the special in 1987 saw and recognized him while standing in some line at LAX. I guess it just goes to show that when you're a fugitive you never can stop looking over your shoulder.

That's too bad that the charges were dropped. Bigamy is a pretty nefarious crime.
