Looking for info on 2 programs

i am looking for some info on 2 Unsolved Mystery episodes I saw but can not find now
1) was about a woman who worked for the military, who used to meet a friend at a diner after work, told this friend she was going to bring her proof that aliens exist the next day, she never showed up, the mother contacted the military and they said there was never no one by that name stationed there

2) was about a bassist for a rock group I think was "Iron Butterfly" who quit music, got a GED, got work for the military, was working on sending messages with light (I assume would be Fiber Optics), started to have mental problems, told everyone that he was working on this transmitting information at the speed of light and the government was after him, they found his car, but never found his body.

I know these two episodes existed and were aired, but even if I email unsolved mystery they dont know what I am talking about. Anyone remember these 2 episodes and can link me to some info on it??

The first one sounds vaguely like a segment on the "Mysteries of Alien Beings" special that aired in 1995.

I know about the second segment and I know I have seen the episode but my recollections are vague. The guy's name was Taylor Kramer. He was on the road and called 911 from his cellphone. He said he was going to commit suicide and then disappeared. I believe the case was solved when his truck and remains were found.
